dont know wether i weed myself or waters leaking

well i just finished on the toilet and stood up, then as i was washing my hands hubby came in for a wee and all of a sudden loads of water was trickling on the floor, hubby said no not again its too early for waters to break, i said not sure if its wee, he said its clear we both had a good look, i have smelt my knickers and they dont smell of anything but i will smell again in about an hour cause maybe they will smell by then horrible i know, I am just lying in bed for a bit then see what happens when i get back up. I have had PROM before with my 3rd so am high risk of it happening again, plus i have a bacterial vaginosis which also puts my chances higher plus now a water infection whaich again ups my chances, i think it was probably wee and dont want to go the hospital for wetting myself, has anyone else think they have finished on the toilet to only find more came out a bit later

I really don't know.. What's PROM? If it was pee it would def smell of something and wouldn't be clear..

I agree with pinkpunch...maybe its worth phoning the hospital. I mean if it was pee it would smell. x

PROM is pre rupture of membranes basically waters broke at 22 weeks with 3rd baby. I just dont want to overreact because of my history and go to hospital for wetting myself, but on other hand maybe your right better to go with wetting myself than to stay at home with waters leaking early. I will ring midwife in morning knickers still no smell

If it was clear and didn't smell it is more than likely not urine. I had to go upto the hospital to get a speculim done a few weeks ago as I kept leaking fluid and urine, the fluid was pinky and then urine also. You can smell urine the minute it's on a pad or clothing. You are better to be safer than sorry at the end of the day, what's worse ... getting slightly embarrassed (which you shouldnt anyway) because it turns out to be urine (which mine did) or you're waters having gone and you havent phoned to let the midwifes know what's happend and go in to get checked out ?! At the end of the day, they have seen everything before, so you have nothing to be embarrassed about, if it's urine then it's probably just the baby putting pressure on you're bladder but if it's not urine and is you're waters, then you'll be glad you phoned and got it seen to before any infections get into you're baby!

I am waiting for a midwife to ring me back, i have had no more loss which is positive but also smelt my knickers this morning and still no smell,so that not so good. I fel ke a right one keep going back to these knickers and smelling them. I will let you know what the midwife says when she finally gets in touch with me

well midwife rang me back and said to lie down for half an hour, if nothing trickles out then its probably nothing. so just must have been very random bigger wee after having a wee lol.

I don't think that's good enough to be honest! That can't possibly prove it was pee if nothing trickles out if you lie down now- a day later. If it was me I would go to hospital and have them test it since your membranes have ruptured early before.

That's not good enough! They should be telling you to come in to get it checked out, especially with your past history with rupturing membranes !!!

Also, when they told you to lye down for half an hour, did they tell you to try coughing or anything to see if anything came out too? Hense the reason why when they do a speculim, they tell you to cough (quite a hard cough) to see if any water leaks atall which tell's them if the membrane has a slight rupture,etc.

What they have told you to do is probably protocol but it's bloody terrible, it could be you're waters and nothing else is leaking yet/or will leak but you may have a slight "nik" in them for all you and them know (as they havent checked you) which could turn into an infection if it isnt spotted soon enough !!

I would phone then back and tell them you arent happy and you are sitting in the house sick to your stomach with worry incase it has been your waters as there is deffinately no smell of urine on the underwear it happened to gush on which isnt right as if it was urine you would deffinately smell it !!

Oh, hope you got it checked out - I agree with the others, how can they give you a diagnosis like that over the phone - especially with your past history.

I've been asleep most of the afternoon, really tired after not sleeping much last night, still no more loss so i'm sure i will be fine, my friend pointed out aswell that maybe from when i had a 2nd sac that was being pushed out the way may have just burst, i have not had another scan scince 20 weeks and that one was a bit rubbish they seemd to rush things through after seeing baby's heart and they didn;t show me anything not even this is baby's leg or arm or anything. so i dont know what actally happened to the other sac, i know i never bled when they said i would miscarry it. I will see how tonight goes and if i am in any doubt tomorrow i will go and see my gp as he is fantastic and will probably ring hospital and sort things out. when i was picking kids up from school before my midwife rang me and told my husband that my iron level has dropped more so to start taking 3 tablets a day now, and blood results came back for oc and that came back fine which is good, i asked my husband if she knew about the loss he said she didn't mention it, so either she wasn;t worried or the other midwife not been in contact with her.

please go in. my hind waters broke really sowly. And i used to think id peed myself a little at a time. it never smelled of anything and would never happen that i could lie down for an hour, stand up and leak. Had to go to hospital, lie down for an hour and have a speculum and it was only then that they found water........
