does pregnancy affect your heart rate?

i were on the cross trainer at the gym last night and had my hands on the metal bar things to count my heart rate and i got it over 200 in less than 2 minutes and it stayed over for 5mins. :shock: Dh tested it to see if it was the machine and it wasnt my heart rate was over 200 :shock:

Iv never had it over 150 before so i thought it could be pregnancy related? :pray: either that or theres something seriously wrong with me

Yeah your heart rate does increase during pregnancy - as it needs to cope with pumping the extra blood around.

yep it deffo does...mine has been terrible..

Yeah but it was a week ago and was - but im on CD 60 today so something up :think:
 
what should a normal resting heart rate be?

My mum slapped me for carrying on knowing it was over 200 :cry:

Normal resting heart rates ranges anywhere from 40 beats per minute up to 100 beats per minute. Ideally you want to be between 60-90 beats per minute, with the average resting heart rate for a man being 70 beats per minute, and for a woman 75 beats per minute

ur body carries more blood when your pregnant if that has anything to do with heartrate?
 
i remember the mw doing mine when i was in labour it was 105.
 
Probably telling you to suck eggs but if you are pregnant you will need to keep your workout heart rate to about 120 (IIRC) it is really low, and I was suprised by how low. Must admit I did used to let it go upto 130 but it is so much lower than the intensity I was used to working out at it felt like I was hardly doing any good.

Are you using a HR monitor? I have sometimes had some dodgy values (~200bpm) when I know my heart rate is only about 130-140 I think it is caused by interference / other peoples HR monitors, causing strange values. Other times is will come up with 90 when I know it is more like 150-160.

To know if your resting heart rate has changed you will need to know what it is before. As you get fitter your resting heart rate will drop. When I am fit mine will get down to about 55 but I haven't been that fit for a long time. I think it is something horrendous (for me) like 70 at the moment.
