Hi ladies!

Im 36 and on my 5 month TTC, i have been using OPK and have been getting lines. My cycles are a bit weird but in the normal time range....do you think i should see a doctor??

Honest advise pleae :) x

It can't do any harm hun...They usually say to go to doctors after a year of trying or after 6 months if you've been charting and timing bd. I went to my docs last week and she is referring me to a fertility clinic after 6 months of ttc with charting, etc. I think it's just to start the ball rolling with tests etc, not actually for fertility treatment or anything...yet. xx

^^ wss cant do any harm asking hun xx maybe get a scan and everything to check its all ok xx

5 months is a short time but your age( no offence ;-) ) would make you viable to be seen for fertility

i am 27 and docs just arnt fussed atm

Yeah think i will give it a few more months and then see a doc....like you say cant hurt ;) x

Thanks girls for your advise. xxx

I didnt know this, I am on my 6th month and have been using OPKs and timing etc..didnt think they would be bothered about seeing me and offering help just yet-I am 28...I am wondering if I should enquire about it, Thanks for the info x

Pinkb, go with what you feel hun, it wont do any harm to go and you never know, you might not need to anyway ;-) xx

I think it depends on the gp....first one i saw wasnt interesred at all and said to wait a yr even tho i was doin temps and opks....2nd dr i saw referred me straight away for tests but that was more bcoz of my itregular cycles.

I think they say if ur under 30/35 to wait a yr...an if ur iver that its possibly 6mths but dont quote me on that

it cant do any harm to see gp hun as if nothing else theyl hav u on record about comin to c them regardin ttc

xxxx

I agree the worst they can do is turn u away but at least uv started the ball rolling x

Babydust to all

If yo are 35 or over you can go to see your gp after 6 months of actively trying which you have been. I would reccomend that you do as if (hope not) you require certain treatment sime areas. (mine) have a waiting list of 16-24 months. You need to get the ball rolling to even get on a list. Hope you dont need to though! You can quote the guidelines if the dr is not responsive. At least you should have bloods and semen trsts.

Hi hun , I'm 34 my gp told us if after 6 months of ttc nothing had happened we had to make an appointment to see him and I've got 2 kiddies , but he says bcos of mine and dh age he wanted to see us after 6 cycles , but I haven't plucked up the courage to go yet and it been a lot longer than 6 months x x x

I think from 35 upwards they see you after 6 months TTC as opposed to the standard one year!

Maybe say you've been trying 6 months and book an appointment, best to get the ball rolling as they may want to refer you for some tests etc and that can take ages.

In the meantime you just carry on doing what you are doing and I am sure you'll get your BFP

Ye book an appoitment hun that's what they are there for and if the waiting list for treatment is that long (hopefully it won't come to that) best to get the ball rolling sooner than later I think :)

I'd book an appointment. Is there a Dr at your surgery that specializes in women's health?
There is no reason not to refer you on and better to get the ball rolling now. x

Yep hun, if you have a big practice see if there is any GP thats specialise in Fertility / Gynae

:) Thanks girls, im going to have a look and find out some stuff in my area and then give it until May (one more cycle after this one) and if no BFP by then defo start having blood tests and stuff.

My OH is 7 years younger than me and has good sperm so if any probs it will be me! Eeeeek! xx

Does anyone know any good private places i can go near Essex or London? Depends on how expensive also but if NHS (what i will try first) has a big waiting list then i will look at going private. x

hmmmm i didnt know about the 6 month thing after 35,im 39 had a mmc last may and been trying since but with no luck and been using opks the last 4 months,im a bit scared to go the docs bcos altho i should be lucky that i have 6 healthy children and some ppl are struggling to have even 1 i feel an empty space in my life since the mmc and its hurting me so much, i scared the doctor will say oh u have 6 stop beeing greedy or sumthing :-/ i just dont know what to do i think if i dont fall this cycle i will go and see what doc says no harm in trying is there xx

I went to dr's after trying for a year or so and I wish I'd gone sooner! He was really good with me though and did blood tests to get the ball rolling whilst waiting for a fertility clinic appointment. So worth it even if all it does is flag up your concerns and of course knowing you have done all you can at the moment does help reduce stress and worry which might help you conceive!

I'm 39 in June and OH 46 in Oct and we went to see our GP about a year or so ago and was told that they couldnt help us 1. Because of our age and 2. Because we both have kids from previous ex's, he told us if we wanted help we would have to pay for it ourselves.
Go see your GP he/she could be very helpful.

hun I wouldnt waste any time at all! get the ball rolling now. At least get the basic 3, 5, and 21 day bloods out of the way. I have been told that after 35 egg quality decreases dramatically, so every month really does count.
Also in some areas they wont do IVF on NHS over 39, and if there is a 2 year waiting list then you dont have much time............

x

Hi, PB
Like the other ladies have said in the thread going to see the GP would get the ball rolling and put your mind at rest. I'm going to see the dr next week.

Fx for you xxxx
