Do I *need* a monitor?

We were apparently bought one by OH's mum but it never materialised

We made do just fine, and when they cry you can hear it a mile off - instinctively you sort of know. You'll be fine without one x

Oh, I never did the chest thing but I do still put my finger by his nose to feel him breathing warm air onto it. I do it when he sleeps in the carseat and buggy too

If you do decide to get one I would check out your local boots store. I just bought the Tomy Walkabout Platinum for £34.99 reduced from £79.99, apparently the packaging is changing.

I found it on the bargain shelf with all the other reduced items, lucky cause I had taken the BT 150 monitor back because it was faulty and they didnt have any others until I spotted the bargain!!

we've got one, but never needed it. We live in a small bungalow.............you can actually see Dan's room from our frontroom!

We didn't use ours at all when she was a littl baby due to a combination of me being in the same room and her being VERY LOUD INDEED. Now we just use it from 7.30pm to 9pm when we're downstairs and she's upstairs (although to be fair if she's crying we can hear her anyway and we just get it in stereo).

At night her bedroom's next to ours so we just leave both doors open a crack. That way we hear her if she cries but her grunts don't disturb us!

I don't know if we'd bother with one if we had our time again. I certainly wouldn't if we lived in a smaller place. Depends how loud your baby is though and how quickly they settle. Connie settles quickly and yells loudly

Nah even if you do have one you still spend every 5 mins watching thier chest .. ... :D

Hehe how very true   Still doing that now sometimes when I wake in the night. I take comfort in knowing full well I am far from the only Mum that does this. I always figured if I am doing it, then so must a lot of other Mums out there

I still do it now! My eldest is 9 but when I go check on them at night I still feel their chests!

Awwwww  We never stop worrying about them. Its a natural thing

I joked to my friends before Galen was born that I'd see them next in 2026  I had been joking but now he is here I realise I was serious  :rotfl: Its so hard to not worry about them, even when things are fine
Its so true! I think I will still check their chests and things like that when they are adults! From the moment of your BFP its all worry haha But the best worry in the world!! :D
