We're planning on having the baby in the moses basket in our room for the first 3/4 months and then either move the cot into our room or put baby in the cot in it's own room.

Probably a silly question but when would we need a baby monitor?

Would we have it on whilst baby is in our room with us or would we get one when baby is in the nursery?

Also can anyone recommend one? I've seen a Tommee Tippee one in Argos with a sensor mat or would you just get a basic one that has the 2 walky talky thingies?

I've found that you need a moniter from baby being about a month old. Even though they are sleeping in your room they do start to go bed before you when they are getting into a routine even if its 11pm.

Also they are handy to use if you put her down for daytime naps in your room rather than down with you.

Hi hon,

Its definitely worth getting a monitor for when baby is born, not that you will use it so much in the first month, just that you my find you become so busy by then that you may not have the time to pop out to get it. At least if you buy it now you will have it ready for when you need it.

We brought a video/tv monitor which is made by NScessity. Its relatively small and portable and you can plug it into your TV too so that you can keep an eye on your baby when you are watching your favourite programmes - a small window will pop up on most screens.

I was really paranoid when we first had our angel and would constantly watch the screen to make sure she was breathing.
