can thet hear the heartbeat this early, i have my midwife appointment next week i will be 9 weeks will i be able to hear the heartbeat?

this would be amazing!

From about 9 weeks a doppler may pick a heart beat up!! So Good Luck babe!!! xx

roxanne, that is rediculous! you shouldn't be put into such worrying condition, you poor thing! none of us should!

I started bleed on Monday and they can't get a scan to check me until Sunday! I also had a miscarrage at similar time 2 years ago... you think they will give priority to people with problems? but no! that gave some idear how huge the demand is!!

We paid 155 pounds for a private scan which was such a good expirence, we saw the baby's heartbeat at 7 weeks and got a picture! it was totally worth it!

Go for a private one if you can my dear, and don't worry too much...

baby's hearbeat put my mind at rest for a little whilst..also bought a doppler for twenty five pounds from ebay. I also managed to get a private scan for next thursday at seventy nine pounds..alot of money but worth every penny!

Just came back from the scan, the baby is healthy and perfectly sized for his age. ive got five pictures, one of them is close up and it shows that hes got a pointy nose like joe's and pouty lips he is so sweet. he was moving around and waving his hands, I cant wait till hes here but the scan makes it so real! bought a baby's heart monitor and each evening when joe come back from work we hear it; it sounds like a galloping horse but the perfect music to my ears. Joe likes to play with it as well, he likes to listen to his stomach and his heart beating..weirdo! anyways just wanted to share all of this with you. 20th week and we could know the sex of the baby!

roxanne glad all went well with the scan and how great hearing the heartbeat whenever you want, how much did the doppler cost on e bay, you have me thinking!! i might have to treat myself!

I live in Plymouth and only had a 20 week scan with my son. That's all they do here and they don't think the 12 week one is needed because they can check everything in detail at 20 weeks. Also my doctor just took my word for it that I was pregnant because I had a BFP, thought that was normal?

I am the same. I am 16 weeks pregnant and my first scan is on 7th August when I will be 19 weeks. That is what they do in Devon. I think it is rediculous. I have heard the heatbeat but you dont if the baby is OK until you get to 20 weeks which is really late. Appartantly they do it to save money which is rediculous when it is a life involved. Soon flies by. Wont be long until you scan. Chin UP !!!

My doctor said the exact same thing to me as well. He said you're first scan will be at 20 weeks!! I was like WHAT.

I am seeing the M/W for the first time on 16th Aug so I'm going to ask her if I can have a earlier one
