update again!*

well we aren't moving to the lovely house :( we would really struggle to pay that out a month at the moment, so we've put on our sensible heads for the moment

we are however moving to a wee bungalow not too far from here a week tomorrow, so we have a LOT to do  can't believe we're doing this before christmas, we're off our heads :rotfl:

http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-to- ... ier=REGION^18&radius=0.0

also managed to haggle it down to £550 a month  we will get our dream house one day though  this ones lovely though :D what do you all think?? xx

update*

they have agreed to give it to us for £650 a month, now i don't know what to do, they have other people interested too..
it's so far out from my home town, john will have to drop me off and pick me up from work 3 nights a week until i can drive. i don't know if i'm getting ahead of myself now. it's a lot of money to pay, we worked out how much it would be for a mortgage on the house, and it's a lot cheaper :( we just wouldn't get a mortgage for that much just now :(

i don't know what to do, i just love the house..

************

ok this may be a long one.

basically we may have the chance to rent a brand newly built house, pick our own kitchen etc, to move into in the next month or two. after a year or however long we would have the chance to buy the house at a fixed price. (there is talk of them putting some of the rent we pay towards the deposit.) it's called a rent to buy scheme.

we would be paying a good price for rent per month, my friends dad works for the company and is trying to work on his boss to get it as low as he can. they were originally asking for £750 a month, but he then said £650 but ive to call tomorrow now, so hoping he's put it down more

the house is our absolute dream house, but it's about 15 mins by car away from the town where my family are, we don't know the area (it's got a great reputation though,) and in a wee quiet village. i wouldn't be able to go shopping to my normal town easily, until i drive :( thats the main thing thats getting to me, also bc my works in this town, it would be hard to get there and back..

what do you all think? i'll find the pics of it too..

those images are of the showhomes, but i just loveeeeee it :(

A brand new detached family size 3 bedroom home. This property is immaculately presented and is situated in a popular residential area of Blackridge. The property is accessed via a good size entrance hallway and has a bright spacious lounge with double glass doors through to the dining room with patio access to the back garden. There is a fitted kitchen with a 4 ring hob, electric fan oven and cooker hood, the utility room is through a door just off the kitchen. Upstairs there are 3 good size bedrooms, the master bedroom has fitted wardrobes and an en suite shower room, the second room is double in size and the third room is a large single. The main bathroom has a 3 piece white bathroom suite with a bath, wc and wash hand basin. This property has a single garage and a driveway large enough for 2 cars. There is a small front garden and a larger enclosed back garden.

It looks lovely and if its your dream home then go for it

it looks luuuuuuuuuuuush, when can me and Jam stay??? :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

so long as u check theres no hidden charges or terms and conditions then hopefully itl be plain sailing hun!! :D

Sounds like a good plan but i few things i would think about

If you plan on buying it after a year what will the fixed price be in otherwords if property values continue to drop then will you be paying over the odds in a years time.

How much of the rent goes towards to deposit will you be able to afford the rest of the deposit in a years time and be able to get the mortgage to buy it?
I dont know the area where you are but is £650 a good rent for that type of property.
Other things to consider when buying as you have to look at the long term picture what are the local schools like.

I dont know a huge amount about the rent to buy scheme but it looks like a good way of getting on the property ladder but property prices are not great at the mo and if you were looking at buying then there are some great bargains to be had.

Are you learning to drive or would you consider it.
Hope it works out it looks like a lovey house.

It looks gorgeous, and if it is your dream home, then I would go for it too!

Weighing it up from the things you have said, i.e, the pros and cons, I would go for it. It's a good price for a decent sized 3 bed house in a quiet area with a good reputation, and if your freind's Dad has managed to get the price down even more, than that's a bonus! 15 mins drive isn't all that far away and you could use the bus, etc., if you still wanted to go shopping in the other town couldn't you? It sounds ideal to me! :D

thankyou girls, one of the other things is that john LOVES it. he's usually the sensible one who calms me down, but it's the opposite this time

bloom - thankyou for your sensible advice. thats what i need  i don't think we need to buy in any set time, so if after a year the price was right we could or leave it another couple of years, etc. i'm not sure how much from the rent would go towards it, we would need to confirm all that side of things.

i have taken about 35 driving lessons but have had a break since having aiden, so would need to start again really hopefully i'll still remember a lot though, and it won't take too long..

don't say that, i'm being sensible :rotfl:

I think you should go for it! If not you may regret it.
When I was pregnant with ellie I was offered a house with a huge garden in a lovely area & I turned it down.
I think I was a bit overwhelmed by the whole thing. I still regret it :(
That looks like my dream home & the fact that you'l have the option to buy it is too good to miss! Good luck
Also about the driving lessons, iv just started again & its like Id never stopped. You'l get back into the swing of things quickly!

I say go for it, it sounds like an amazing opportunity and it is a gorgeous house. You'll get all the small issues sorted soon enough :)

sounds lovely hun, xxxxx

Wow thats a really good deal £650 on a house like that. Wouldnt get anything like that round by me :(
If i were you i would jump at the offer.
Like you said you are not far off from getting your driving license so getting to work wont be much of an issue once you drive.

Like someone has said it sounds as if you really like it and have already made up your mind  :D

Just seen this - Blackridge is like 2 miles along the road from me :D Nice looking house - especially for £650 a month. I'm pretty sure there's a bus that run's to Airdrie (there use to be anyway).

In all honesty I think your mortgage payments on that type of house would be about the same as your paying in rent (I've been looking to see if we could afford to move - we can't :( )

ooh - come live next to me :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

really!!!! :D

i was scared about not knowing people etc as well.. :cheer:

they are doing a 75% to 25% scheme as well, basically you geta mortgage for 75% and you don't need a deposit, they py the other 25% and you can either give them 25% when you move out or eventually add itonto your mortgage, even at that though, the house we're looking at would be :( £130,000 with the 75%, so still wouldn't get that right now..

where would be my 'town centre,' i like to go out with the pram shopping etc during the day..

there's not much in blackridge tbh, I'm in Armadale and there's more shops and stuff here (though not loads) You'll get a bus easily enough to take you through and you can get the bus to bathgate and livingston (the new shopping centre's just opened).

ooh it's lovely - not sure aiden will be impressed with the princess bedroom though :rotfl:
