Personally my OH's parents and I got along better after I told them I was pregnant. Before they were very funny about me staying over because of how it would look to their 14 year old daughter (yeah, weird). That led to my OH pretty much living with me for several months.
After we told them that I was pregnant they became much more supportive and, despite always having a tense relationship with my OH, they started to build bridges as much as they could. In fact, most Sunday's I'm invited round for a roast dinner since OH is always at work. They also have DD almost every Sunday from 11am until after we've had dinner. They're also offering to take me and DD on holiday with them this summer.
Not all in laws end up being complete pains.
