For us in Spain- a word of warning, apparently if you have a girl in hospital they pierce her ears not long after birth!! My Sapnish friend says it's normal so they can tell the difference between boys and girls. Even she was suprised when I wasn't to impressed with that proceedure.

Yup... It's true. My little girl is the only one at school who hasn't got pierced ears....But it was quite common in the area of south London I was living in too and everyone wanted to know when I would get her ears pierced... But after having to give her, her jabs, I just couldn't face the guilt of her screaming in pain to have her ears pierced, just for the sake of fashion... As there is no other reason people have their ears pieced, its not like circumcision for example... Its punching holes in baby's ears so that they will look "nice"...

I ask Tia now if she would like to have them done but she says no, it would hurt...so I've just left it.. But she isn't any worse off... and shes certainly not picked on...besides, when she was a baby, I'd dress her in little pink dresses, with little pink ribbons in her hair and people would STILL ask me if she was a he...

has no one told them of the normal way to distinguish the sex

if you dont want it done, refuse :talkhand: , he/she will be your baby and I believe its a choice the child should make when its old enough too and should never have it forced upon it by others
