I'm reading a medical book about IVF and things and there is some crazy information in there that i haven't come across in any of my mainstream IVF books.

So i'm going to keep on reading it and just post anything that i learn that i didn't know so it might be helpful :)

You ladies can post any obscure but handy info that your learn about infertility too!

So.

...that when they transplant the embryo into your uterus, that any blood on the catheter is an indication of trauma to the uterus and that pregnancy chance has been greatly reduced...

...practitioners should use a soft catheter which will remove chance of trauma, but the difficulty then is getting the catheter through the cervix, which is a sphincter muscle that can contract with stress...

...keeping relaxed metally and relaxing your abdomen will allow the embryo transplant to go much more smoothly and maximise pregnancy rate...

...that a women uses up 1000 eggs per cycle from her reserve...

...all of a women's eggs are stored within the 1mm thick membrane surrounding the ovary and the rest of the ovary is just tissues and blood vessels...

...during treatment for endometriosis, some doctors inadvertently scar the ovary tissue which could dramatically reduce the women's egg reserve so be cautious who does the surgery...
