I think because the footballers start early in the youth team, they have no concept of leading a normal life, with money worries etc. The likes of Wayne Rooney IMO probably think that working on Xmas day is a hardship. He possibly doesn't consider those in the jobs you've mentioned above, who work a long hard shift every Xmas, fir considerably less x

When I was in Spain last week for my sisters hen, there was a stag in the same bar from here! A bunch of firemen from Lisburn, we got talking and one of them was 21, he was the "new guy".. An elderly man died up the street from me a few months ago, house fire, turned out this fella had pulled him out 21 years of age and having to face something like that? He couldn't believe I live in the same street, small world.. He was so annoyed about it and you could see that he still wasn't over it.. After speaking to most of them, the all said they done it everyday for the love of the job.. Very, very brave men.. A bit off topic there, but from hearing a story from the horses mouth kind of makes you realize how hard a job it really is, you bring it home with you in your heart and mind x
