Did anybody start BLW before 6 months?

Just wondering if anybody started BLW before 6 months? Do they say 6 months because they are meant to have developed certain skills before then? I'm just curious about BLW as I started Lucas on purees a few days ago. He definitely seems to want it but likes it better if he can hold the spoon and give it himself. xx

not to sure hun as we did TW, and then introduced finger foods at around 7 or 8months. i think for blw its reccomended 6 months although i think some ppl on here may have started before... i saw it in a thread and cant think where.... will edit post if i find it.... if i were you i would prob wait till 6 months...but thats just me.

Think Lo was about 5 months I started tw before that but switched, he's 7 month now and eats what we do, he will eat anything and loves Sunday lunch. Id definatly recommend it. I started with a banana and quickly moved on. I think its about them having control of food In mouth, I read if you give them food and they can't control it with tounge they are not ready. Babies automatically push solids out with tounge if that is the case and they are not ready. Ps it is scary to start but my Lo hasn't choked on anything just gagged a couple of times.

You have been a big help ladies so thank you. If he seems ready at 5 months I will definitely try it. If he doesn't want it he will just play with it at least. He does have good hand control and he can sit up unaided for a few seconds so I'm sure by 5-5 1/2months he will have the required skills down to a tee. I can't wait now. xx

If u want to do blw only I suggest u wait until Lo is atleast close to 6 month. Noa started on the day of 6month. Also blw is not so much about how much they eat in the beginning its about learning about textures and tastes. Some blw babies don't put anything in the mouth for the first few month but will do when they are ready. I never mashed or spoonfeed Noa unleash he had youghurt or porridge. Good luck x
