Diaper changing questions...

My oh seems to think that we only need one pack even lol...
Last time I was looking at those at the supermarket he said that we will stop on our way back home with LO when it's born to get a couple more????:faint:

Oooh I think you'll need to have a word!! When you're both exhausted from no sleep, the weathers bad and the baby has done the tenth massive poo of the day an you realise youre on your last nappy, no one is going to want to get some from the shop lol x

Don't worry, if I was listening to what my oh thinks we should do we would only have a cot and a couple of clothes for LO :faint:
I will go ahead and by some more of what I was planning I suppose...
About when can you already be out and about with LO for shopping etc?
Like 3 weeks maybe?

I took a packet of nappies to the hospital with me as you can never judge how many you'd need. Though the hospital did provide a handful so came away with half a pack.

So far we have 4 packs of size 1=108 nappies probably enough for 10 days or so.
I have 1 pack of size 2 so far and will continue to buy size 2 and up from now on.

I changed AJ after a feed or every 3 hours. If he was sleepy after a feed I'd find he'd settle quickly anyway and was often asleep whilst being changed. You get really quick at changing so its over and done with fast. During the night I'd change when he was really wet or poo'd, just to help distinguish differences between night and day. He'd have extra cream on his bum for night to prevent sores.

You'll soon pick it up and find out what works for you and baby. x

It depends on your baby... We took K out at three weeks, but hten she became a big crank at 6 weeks. We have just started taking her out again, but I haven't taken her out alone yet other than to the doctor's, baby wellness clinics and for walks. Only because she cries so much and is hard to calm down. It will stress me out more than anything. Lol.

Jojo is right too. If you have a newborn who is a lazy eater, you may have to change him before each feed to wake him.

As for nappy sizes, K is still in size 1 at 12 weeks lol.... I think they are going to last a while still. We have cloth ones for when she grows out of size 1 though :)

I think you're going to do great!

Harry at 2 weeks fits into size 3s.... We've bypassed size 2 as they kept leaking!!

It's all trial and error....I wondered myself how you'd know what to do and it's just practice and getting to know your baby. You'll soon know what works for you all xx

I ordered 240 nappies from just for bums and used them all within 3 weeks, we are half way through our second order now.

You need to account for wasted nappies caused by parental negligence too lol. The amount of times I've wrapped dirty wipes/cotton wool inside CLEAN nappies at 2am is unbelievable pmsl. Oh and the poos that are done before you even manage to secure the tabs of the clean nappy are always fun!

You'll soon get into the swing of things. And get poo in your hair, under your nails and generally spread around the house xxxxxxxx

I change leo before a feed i can often smell if hes poo'd so thats good kinda lets me know he needs changed but sometimes hes just pumped lol, but i just have a peak in the sifde of his nappy just too make sure xx

We stocked up on nappies when they were on offer. Means you dont have all the extra expense at one time.

As for the going out - we had G in the pub at 3days old (my mates pub that was closing)

And the week DH had off for paternity leave - we were out for walks/lunch/registering/shoping - most days. lol

xxx

I stocked up on nappies... Huggies ones as I got quite a few vouchers for them... Now I'm stuck here with an overload of nappies which I cant use because they pissin leak! Waste of money! So running to the shops for more nappies is actually not such a bad idea xx
