detecting ovulation...

I am in month two of ttc and with cycle lengths of around 49 days I am keen to get things right asap!!!

I am keeping track of my temp and also using a home ovulation detection kit but am confused as to what to be detecting!

How much should your temperature raise by when you've ovulated?
How accurate are the home ovulation kits? Should I rely on it?

Any help would be appreciated!

. If your cycles are always the same then ovulation would be 12-16 days before your period starts. Try looking at http://www.fertilityfriend.com/ joining is free and if you put your temps in every day then fertility friend will put red lines in when you ovulated. if you look here http://www.pregnancyforum.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=24043&start=0 at everyone else's charts. With OPKs I've never actually had a + but using my temp charts I can know when I ovulate.
