Depo Injection

Has anyone had the depo injection before/or currently on it? i had my 1st one about 2 months ago and the last two-three weeks ive been on my period. is this supose to happen?

Oh hun im on this and the first time i had it i bled for the whole 3 months!!!! I was then given the next injection and the pill along side for one month and since then that has regulated my periods again. Irregular bleeding is a side effect and unfortunately theres not much that can be done apart from waiting for it to wear off or trying the pill along side it for one month to see if it helps.

Greattttt! ill have to give them a ring then, are they able to start giving u that pill before your next injection? does it stop the bleeding then? xx

basically if u have breakthrough bleeding they can give u the next injection a week or two early which can help and my gp gave me the pill but she wouldnt give it to me until my second injection just to keep all my cycles in check, she said it was completely hit and miss if it would work and i could end up bleeding for another 3 months but i was lucky and it worked. she has said however that the pill along side the injection isnt a long term option and she wouldnt let me have it for more than one month even though it worked x

Ok well ill give them a ring tomorow. Hopefully be able to have a telephone appointment with my nurse, so annoying thought this would be do straight forward lol. Thanks for your help hun Xx

I used to be on this years ago, and I bled for 6 months ! They did tell me that I should have rung back when I realized and they would have given me the next one straight away and that should have stopped it. It did take till 6 months to stop the bleeding, even if light, I then had two more jabs before I came off it to try for another baby.

I did find I was a little more highly strung when on it, but am more prone to mood swings anyway I think, so worth keeping an eye out, but other than that a really good contraception, and great to have no periods for swimming etc

Do plan ahead if you want another baby, as it can take a few months to get your periods/cycle back to normal after having these jabs ready to try again

I was on Depo, but stopped because I couldn't stand the constant cramping and bleeding!
