Hi everyone

Due to past history of progesterone issues that I have previously been medicated for (not pregnancy related) and a current short luteal phase and lack of temperature change throughout my cycle I feel quite sure that I am not producing enough progesterone to get pregnant.

I've been reading that the best time for a progesterone blood test is day 21 of the cycle, or 7 days after ovulation.

I can't get an appointment until day 22 - is this out of window? This is my first time going through this process, so apologies if this is a silly question.

Thanks for any guidance you might be able to give me - anything at all! I just want to have the results to be able to start any progesterone treatment asap

22 should be fine

Thank you so much. I'm spending this morning panicking myself into a tizz!

It all depends when you ovulated. Day 21 is based on a typical 28 day cycle. If you ovulated on day 14 you would need the bloods done on day 21. If you ovulated on day 20 for example, they would need to be done on CD 27. Whatever day you ov 9n, 7 days after that for it to be accurate, I expect a day either side would be ok x

I got mine done day 23 due to day 21 falling on a sunday and Monday was a bank hol and the doc said that would be fine. My result was 44 so more than enough. Day 22 will be fine. Good luck !

I agree with what lisey says. Do remember that day 21 is based on a 28 day cycle so if yours is different from this, you may want to alter the day accordingly. GPs don't tell you this in my experience. I tend to have 26/27 day cycles. I went cd20 as it was a Friday and I I knew it would be better than cd23 on the Monday. My result was 51 which is plenty.

Thank you for this. My cycles are a bit all over the place at the moment so I will try day 22 this month but may try an earlier one in the future (my cycle was 24 days last month, so I will keep tracking once things even out)

Do you track ovulation? Best thing to do is wait until you have ovulated or have positive opk and then call for appointment. My surgery was terrible for being able to fit me in but they were able to give me the forms and I could take it to a walk in at hospital. I don't know if you have that option x

Thanks - yes, I track ovulation with the LH tests and try temperature tracking but never see a pattern - it doesn't seem to rise. The doc has given me one of the forms to go to the hospital Monday (day 22). I'll try that this month. Thank you
