Is it when it’s accompanied by bleeding or fainting, or can constant cramping be a bad sign?

I found out about 4-6 days before my period was due and am now 7 weeks and the cramping has been non stop ever since the test was positive. It’s like pretty painful period cramps and some occasional pains on my pelvic bone just above the vagina Area, with achey thighs, and sore hips and back.

I’ve had one scan at 6 weeks where the baby was seen with HB in the right place, so I’m not worried about ectopic pregnancy, but is the cramping something to worry about or only if I start spotting?

I’m finding it very distracting and hard to sleep at night when they’re there :( I had some cramps with my first during the 4th week as I was due my period but not this bad or this constant.

Thanks for any advice x

Ha, I’m the opposite. I’m worrying because I dont have any cramping at all and I’ve heard it’s normal to have mild cramps in first trimester.

It’s probably just everything stretching out. I think blood-free cramps are fine. I think some people just sense them more than others like some people feel their womb contracting more when in their period.

Amazingly I haven’t had painful period cramps in the last ten years, even during the periods post labour so I’m a bit shocked that I’m getting them now! So far this pregnancy has been a bit different from my first so who knows. It’s just hard not to worry when it feels like I’m going to come on at any moment :(

We're in the same boat. I found out at 3+2 because I had horrific cramps, way worse than any period cramps I'd experienced. They eased off a little bit after I missed AF but they were still very bad and pretty constant until about 9 weeks. They backed off a lot then, but never went away. I've had cramps on and off the whole way through so far and am 22+4 now.

As long as you're not bleeding and you know the pregnancy isn't ectopic, don't worry about it. :) If they get to the point where you can't go about your day, then maybe have a chat with your doctor. I think some of us just get unlucky and feel the uterus stretching a lot more than others do.

I have had cramping in pregnancy worse than any AF or even the cramping I had during my miscarriage. No blood is really all that matters. Sounds 100% normal!

My second I cramped so much until about 7 weeks kept feeling like period was coming. This time nothing it weird isn’t it how each time it’s different but I would t worry especially after having a scan x

Thank you, ladies! It's so hard not to worry when it's constant. I definitely think it's stress and tiredness contributing to it :(

As everyone has said, cramping itself can be really normal in early pregnancy. Everyone is so different that we all just worry for different reasons. Like Piglet, I worried about lack of symptoms as I had no cramping or sickness and was basically just a bit more tired. Obviously it was great to feel so well but it's not particularly reassuring when everyone says you should feel terrible!!
