Really struggling to decide on which cot bed mattress to buy for our cot bed. We have a hand-me-down Mamas and Papas Lucia Cot Bed, so need a mattress that is 140x70. We can't stretch to the Mamas and Papas one which is a pocket sprung mattress. I've been checking out other options on Amazon and Tesco, but I am finding the different types of mattress very confusing. I don't know what kind of mattress is best? Foam, spring, pocket sprung?!

Glad you started this thread! I need help too :D Have you checked Argos? I think avoid foam? But no idea what I am looking for either. x

I'm sure I was told foam is bad for babies too, but when I asked in Mothercare they were confused as to why anyone would suggest foam wasn't OK! I hadn't even thought to look on Argos, will have a look now!

Spring mattresses just last longer. So if your using it in a cotbed it lasts for the 2/3 years you use it. Foam are usually recommend for cots as you only get 2 years out of them. If you go for foam it will prob need replacing when you turn it into a bed :) I only know because I work in a nursery shop lol ! Hope this helps xx

Would you say that pocket sprung mattresses are actually better than spring, or is it OK to go with just a spring? :)

Hi bounty do deals on mama and papa pocket sprung corned for 75 quid delivered X

I have just got the mamas and papas sprung for my boys. There is so many different ones to go for. But as a mum i would personally just recommend the sprung on. My little lads always been comfy :) x

We have pocket spring either a stay cool layer from
Mothercare - foam Is fine but I would get a thickish one of their comfort

Not sure if they fit standard size cots, but IKEA do some very reasonably priced ones - my daughter was very comfy on hers!

Our cot bed is from mamas and papas and we bought our mattress from kiddie are,I can't remember the exact name of it but it was a pocket sprung luxury for about £45 - they were half price. Foam doesn't last as long Iv been told

Xx

Kiddicare and mothercare both have sales on, I get emails from both so get exclusive previews. May start tomorrow for everyone else, if you are not registered x

I think I am going to get it too :)

It's exactly what I was looking for. And such a bargain! So even if it doesn't last long, it won't have cost us the earth. Never ordered from Kiddicare before, hope the delivery goes smooth!

I have ordered from them before and they were better than mothercare. However it did get delivered to work so wasn't really a chance of missing it. no idea when it will be delivered seeing as xmas time now, but don't mind if have to wait until after xmas anyway. x

Ideally suited for baby hanging cot, it is very useful for early growth, but if you are not able to do this, you should pay attention good mattress that has good plumbing, and is ideally suited to the individual characteristics of your baby. It is worth to look through and make a good choice
