cooking gammon

hi i bought a gammon joint in tescos yesterday but i have no idea how to cook it :oops: :oops:
do i boil it before i roast it or do i just shove it in the oven? i remember my mum used to rub something on the outside to make it taste nice....some kind of sugary paste??

Doesn't it have the basic cooking instructions on the packaging? Just asking, because it's difficult to give advice not knowing the exact size of the joint, how long it has been cured for etc. My last adventure was a 6 kg ham, basically a quarter of a pig which I had to soak for 24 hours, but it might be that yours needs less or even no soaking at all, depending on the cure.

There are billions of glazes to put on. We just mix honey and mustard (with a dash of cider to make it more runny), but it's important to not put it on too early. The last 30 minutes in the oven are enough, if you put it on too early, it will just burn off
