Hi all, just joined and wanted some advice really.

I'm 40 and I've been TTC for 7 months and my periods have all started on CD 28. This month it was 3 days late and only lasted for 3 days, the first 2 days being heavy bleeding then very little spotting on the 3rd. My periods normally last 6/7 days.

Wondered if any of you have experienced anything similar.

Hiya and welcome Jules :)

I think it's fairly normal for our periods to go a bit wonky every now and again.

Mine are always 28 days average but i remember once i was doing some counting and realised one of them had been 25 days but it was just a blip.

Have you had your FSH bloods done?

hey and welcome to the forum

I agree with Louise, mine can be very regular then suddenly go a bit wonky

Good luck. x

hello, have you been to the doctors for tests yet? I was same age as you when I first went, they say a year before they'll do anything but at 40 we only have to have been trying for 6 months

Hi all thanks for replying.
Been to doctors today and all ok she just
Said it was a blip and as you get older
These things happen. Had me bloods
Done 3 months ago - all ok. So Hopefully
Its just a matter of time.

Xx

well good luck! and hope it happens soon :dust:

My bloods weren't very good and they said only real option was IVF but it happened without - just keep enjoying the trying

Congratulations brill news for u. How long were u trying for. When are u due. I really do hope it happens soon it so stressfull xx

thanks - we were properly trying 11 months but no contraception for 15 months. Just lots of sex  I used ovulation sticks from Tesco and tended to ovulate about day 11 - 12 so stopped at day 9 to build up some good swimmers and then :bd: everyday (not TMI I hope)
Am due 8th December so will be 42!

you say you've had bloods, have they offered you a scan or a hysterosalpingogram?

Are you happy your bloods are ok? - my GP said my FSH result was really good but when I saw the specialist he said it wasn't and had I been young enough to qualfy for IVF on the NHS I wouldn't have got it anyway because my level was above the cut off... the most frustrating thing I found was the waiting I just kept thinking come on I haven't got time to waste at my age! but I guess there's so many people in the same boat and not enough NHS appointments - I was constantly on the phone to the hospital for cancellations managed to reduce my wait by 3 months to see the specialist initially....

Got everything crossed for you - :dust:keep enjoying the practising !
