Had a 16 weeks scan yesterday and they told me at the moment I have a complete placenta previa she was lovely and said most love put the way but after googling I’m petrified. Anyone else had this and it moved out the way? X

Me!!

I had a complete placenta previa and it did indeed move up out of the way it was very close though. I think it has to be something like 2-3cm away from the cervix. And at 32 weeks it was still very very close. But by 37weeks it had move well enough away for me to had a natural labour and delivery.

There's a slight chance of a little bit of bleeding caused by irratation of the cervix.. I.e sex, yeast infection etc.

But generally it's nothing to worry about. As you womb grows it pulls the placenta upwards so it should move. The hospital will keep a close eye on you and do regular scans to check progress. If it doesn't move, you'll have no choice but to have a c-section as it'll be the safest option for you and baby xxx

Thanks so much for replying hun. I think there’s a lot of horror stories out there and I should stop reading them!! Just want this last birth to go smoothly! That’s great that yours had moved ! Congrats on ur scan baby looks lovely and healthy xx

I've not been told I have complete but that I do have it. Waiting on my 32 week scan to see if it's moved or not. I'm not worried about it; they'll keep an eye on it and if I need a c-section I'd rather it be a planned one rather than emergency.

I had this at my 12 and 20 week scan in my previous pregnancy, but by 36 weeks it had moved up high enough that I delivered naturally x

Thanks girls I really don’t want a section so keeping everything crossed it will move xx

I was low lying with both of mine at 20 weeks, second baby it moved at 34 week scan. With my first it didn’t move and they hadn’t me booked for c section but scanned again at 38 weeks and it had moved just enough for labour. I had to be consultant led, wasn’t allowed a support belt for my spd, careful with sex and wasn’t allowed a sweep when I was overdue, but it was all fine, she came out vaginally and I had no bleeding before hand. 9/10 move apparently so hopefully yours will too and as others say if not it will be a planned section which isn’t that bad. Xx

I know how you feel about c-sections, I really don't want one either but if it comes to that a planned one is the best option. Try not to worry about it until you're told that's what's happening though. I was so worried when they first mentioned it to me but I've since come round to the thinking that I can't really worry about something that may not be happening anyway. Also if it does happen; it happens - at least I will be in good hands.
