Coldsore remedies? Which ones are ok?

Hiya,

Just wondering if anyone has a cold sore since being pregnant, and what did you use to get rid of it? I've NEVER had one until being pregnant, think my immune system must just be weaker...I know i have the virus, cause I used to have a verruca when I was younger, but it's never presented as a coldsore..

I put some Zovirax lip cream on it, a teeny bit, but some people are saying thats ok, and others say it's not!!

Any advice would be appreciated x

I didn't even think it would be unsafe. I've used quite a few kinds, I don't get coldsores but use it on my lips sometimes as they get very dry and sore and it helps them really fast. I've not had a problem with any xx

pharmacists tell u to use the patches instead of the creams. x

I've always suffered from coldsores as I have an auto immune condition.

My 'normal' treatment of them as soon as I feel that tingle is............Vodka!! Not drinking it but dabbing it on the tingling area. Usually dries them before they start.

However I have started to swap to Sudocrem which isn't as quick as alcohol to clear or stop them but does work!!
