Anyone got any remedies that they have tried during pregnancy that has worked? X

Rest, rest, rest and more rest x

I have used honey and lemon in hot water and has worked in past for me. Havent had to use it in pregnancy yet though x

Rest, lots of water and vitamin c tablets. You can have paracetamol and Steaming helps too. It's rubbish I know. Feel better soon. X

Thanks ladies. My midwife said we shouldn't have honey I'm pregnancy. I found that extremely weird and must ask why!! Will be staying in bed today I think!!

Honey is fine! I had paracetamol when my stuffy head was at its worst, hot honey and lemon drink and plenty of sleep. Have to say it didn't last as long as my colds normally do - I think because I'm taking a pregnancy multivitamin it's helped to boost my immune system a bit. X

It's just what my midwife said she said to avoid honey throughout pregnancy. Kind of go with what she says tbh because she clearly has a reason I just can't remember what. I'm on the multi vits and paracetamol. Going to steam my face soon just to see if it helps x

Sounds like voodoo to me! I'd be very wary of a midwife who said honey was off limits...

My friend said to me about honey, I hadn't heard of it and asked why. She saidsit's because you don't know what plants have been pollinated to create the honey, therefore you don't know whether they had insecticide on them.

I personally found it a little far fetched, so I've continued to have a spoon or it every now and then.

When I had a cold, it was lots of sleep and vaporub for me!

It's strange how midwives have no problems with opiates (diamorphine and pethidine) yet say honey should be avoided! It's a bit barmy if you ask me...

It's not on the lists on the NHS website either. It's funny how the advice you get from midwives differs so much. I'd listen to what my midwife said too, but it's weird that we don't all get told the same stuff?! xx

Haha so true! I was prescribed ibroprofen gel for tendinitis in my foot... I didn't use it but it does seem random how different things are. My husband was with me and is telling me no to honey too, hot water and lemon is doing the job just now. I'm going to have Heinz tomato soup too used to always have that when I was wee. Can you sense how pathetic I feel right now

Oh my god really!!!?? So did not know that about honey. Bloody weird eh? Hope you feel better soon x

Really? I've eaten LOADS of honey all the wY through! Whoops. 😮 xx

What my mum says is for years people used to eat the stuff we get told we aren't allowed and were fine. If baby doesn't like it, you will know haha! Xx

I think by tomorrow I'll have a full blown cold too, throat is sore and starting to feel bunged up.

The honey issue is something to do with botulism, I know you shouldn't feed to baby under 12mths.

X

I am suffering from insomnia too just now so that's probs not helping with the cold. I usually use a full tub of Vicks when I have a cold and I feel I'm missing my 'fix'. Hope you don't get the cold too. It certainly doesn't make this time very fun xx
