I've heard it mentioned a few times on here, and i've just googled it, fat load of good that did lol, can anyone explain what its meant to do and how? All i could find was something about it being relaxing in labour.

I've been told that you mustn't use clary sage oil until you're actually due as it is meant to bring on contractions. I remember putting a few drops in the bath last time I was due, but it didn't seem to do anything! Have found this on the net:
Clary sage and Jasmine essential oils
Both of these oils can act as a uterine stimulant, which is why they are usually listed as being contra-indicated during pregnancy. This is the reason why many women turn to essential oils for natural induction – you could try massaging them into your bump, putting them in a bath, or putting them on a hot towel on your bump. Be warned though, Clary Sage has a very distinctive smell…
Hope this helps...

Lol dunno about 'relaxing'

Whatever you do don't use it until well into labour as it brings on contractions.

I had a clary sage massage (mixed with olive oil) on my bump and lower back when my contractions slowed and almost disappeared, about 9 hours into my actual established labour. My MW is trained in aromatherapy so gave me a good massage and sat me on the loo and had me start pushing. I got contractions back thick and fast within about 5 minutes of this all happening. LO was born less than an hour later.

Thanks Miffy, thats kinda what i thought it was meant to do but wasnt sure about the hows etc lol.

AND OMG does it smell!!! I think if it gets rubbed on my belly at all i'll have a peg on my nose at the same time!

*edit* didnt see your post Sherlock, i definately wont be using it unless i get very desperate for her to get out, she's got a good few weeks left before then lol
