Are they worth the money - especially when there learning to walk - are they better for their feet due to them being specific fit sizes for each foot?

we had some for oran, they were £18 and lovley - I have lost them  proper gutted as his first 'proper' shows. OH has gone mad as were a bit skint at the moment lol. I think there is a shoe monster who lives with the sock monster! I had them at mums last sunday, the wouldnt fit in my bag when we were going home so I carried them and chuked them on the car floor with his bag. I forgot about them, but am 99% certain I just took the bag in the house but the shoes are no where - not in the car, not in the house. Ive had the sofa out and everything - I just can not think whats happened. Checked with Mum and deffo not left them there either!!

He has some timberlands, his clarkes were a 4 g, these are a 5, they go on great but he cant pull himself up to standing in them, because there bit round his ankels I think lol its funny he screams then looks at his feet and tried to pull the boots off! I was goin to get some more clarkes but another £18  when I can get some cheapy £5-£10 ones from Somewhere else......is it worth it?

I got Tom some Clarks and got him properly fitted as he is starting to take his first steps now. I know they're expensive but I find that he walks better with them on. I only put them on when we're walking outside. I think they're worth the money but then again I'm not sure if anywhere else does them cheaper???
The other thing is, the girl in the shoe shop said you should get them remeasured every 6 weeks at this age as their feet grow so quickly!
Could end up being VERY expensive!

We are on our 2nd pair from clarks already as his feet have grown really fast! But I have heard they go quite cheap on ebay! :D

I had his feet measured properly in clarkes but tey didn't have any cruising shoes in his size in stock so i went to mothercare & bought some for £10.00. He only ever wears shoes outside though, he's normally barefoot in the house.

i am not a clarkes fan every time i have had hannah neasured she has virtually walked out of the size they have said she is, i have bought her some from brantano

I always try to have Jonah in Clarkes shoes, but I usually get them in the sales if I can. I'm a sucker for believing what I read, and the booklet they gave me with the 1st shoes was pretty convincing. I got them measured every 6 weeks but he never grew so fast that he needed new shoes every time.
My Mam has bought them before, and my Nanna as we haven't always had the money when he has needed the shoes. They love to help out when I let them.

You could try getting measured in Clarkes, then get the shoes from Brantano's. They do Clarkes I think, maybe they're cheaper....

ive had clarks a couple of times but i prefer startrite. They are a nicer lighter shoe. Cost more but worth it.
i would never buy a pair of shoes without getting their feet measured.
You only get on pair of feet.

Totally agree Budge! My mum put me in Startrite so i'm gonna put Mhairi in them too!

Where do you get Startrite from Budge?

There's a startrite centre at my local mothercare, at the back of the shop.

the only specialist childrens shoe shops we have in colchester are clarks and brantano(but i refuse to go in brantano)
and bray has problems with his feet so i always buy from clarks and i always will

i want to get luke some shoes as he is taking some solo steps :cheer: :cheer: but i went to get his feet measured and hes too small for shoes hes 1 half size-diddy feet.

I used to work there as a trained fitter and I won't buy Stanley shoes from anywhere else until he's a lot bigger.

There are some crappy fitters ot there but I have ultimate faith in the brand :)

Sophie has 1 pair from clarks and other shoes for playing around etc, when she was learning to walk I got her shoes from clarks.

Alastair has shoes from clarks until I feel he can walk right then it will be the same for him, 1 pair from clarks and other pairs for messing around in.......

I think they are worth the money, they are esp made for babies feet for when they start walking and the weight goes in the right places! You have to be careful when babies start walking because of their ankles etc...

Yeah I think we got a bit of a crappy fitter - when we got there she said ''oh a love measuring babies'' she measured him, we picked the shoes, she tested them and said they were fine, then buggered off to the till - only took about 10 mins and loads of people said half hour! PLus the store we went to had the kids shoes upstairs, no lift and shoes on rack in front of the stairs!! I asked if there was a lift she said ''no but you can leave your pushchair by the doors but we wont watch it'' so OH shoved the showrack out the way (to dirty looks from the staff) and we carried the buggy up while they tutted at us...its not as if Bradford is the safest place to leave your buggy in the doorway, it would have been nabbed by the time we got up the stairs!!!

Anyway, you have all set my mind at rest to what I was going to do anyway and im off to get him some more clarkes next week - just got paid so not to bad, its just frustraiting I had a perfectly good pair that were like new and lovley and there gone. Ive searched the house again today and nothing, mum thinks I maybe put them on roof of the car while I strapped Oran in and then forgot and drove off

GGGRrrrrrrr stupid me, I really wanted to save his first shoes.

Oh minxy if I go to another shop and says it the first measurment, will they check the computer or something?

i know your short of cash but iI would have to say go with the clarks / startrite. Both my kids have a wide foot and that makes it more important I think to get properly measured shoes.

Thats a real bummer tho losing them. It cant be helped now tho,

I know nothing to be done. Ive even given mum instructions to go scouting round the road tom to see if she can find them - they might be ruined but least I would know whats happened to them, thats whats bugging me more than anything!!

Found a pair on ebay which are the same as his but all one colour brown (his were same style just 2 colours) and the right size 4G and in brand new cond - only at £1.99 but 5 days left, ill keep an eye on them!

He needs measuring anyway, it said 6 weeks and thats 8 weeks ago - just trying to put it off till closer till we go on holiday as then know what size he is in to get sandels etc.

ooo im excited about going shoe shopping agian for him now lol.
