Circumsized..

Hi

We decided to have Kadyn done for moreof because Bernie is and we want them to look alike but when our doctor looked at him she said that he has a natural circumsition and we dont have ot get it done apperently his skin is so short it will never grow over

My fella is, but that was apparently because of some inherited problem that made it necessary. If it doesn't prove to be medically necessary for any little lad we have, then I don't want it to happen as we're not Jewish and I don't buy the hygiene argument. Apologies if this sounds offensive, but to me it is a mutilation and I don't like it.

My OH is as its part of his culture, most boys in south africa are done. He claims its "more hygenic" then I read a quote from a book to him about it which said that this is a myth, it was more hygenic 2000 years ago but with todays modern washing facilities it makes no difference whatsoever so leave babies with what they're born with.

I'm not going to put my son through it.

My OH is South African, and is circumcised too, he likes his the way it is now, but my 2 boys haven't had it done, I don't want them to. :)

In South Africa it is purely cultural, not medical or religious, its just "everybody does it" I thought long and hard about it and decided against it, the book only confirmed it for me. Its just well, cosmetic reasons. Not knocking anyone who chooses to have it for whatever reason but its not for me.

Oh god I hope his granny never asks when he's being done!

My baby boy is circumcised for religious reasons. My OH, dad and brother are all circumcised too (we're Jewish). It does look different from a non-circumcised willy (my OH was hte first circumcised willy I have seen) but doesn't make any difference to me in terms of sex or looks (I think willies are pretty ugly circumcised or not :D ).

I know its a sensitive issue but I'm pleased he is circumcised as now he is like his daddy and its really important for me as a cultural thing. I spoke to my (twin) brother about this before we had our boy circumcised and he said he was never bothered about being circumcised and he thinks that you can't really miss what you don't remember. He also said that his sex life is great so he's not worried that he missed out on something

No offence intended but i agree with Allie, i just dont get it at all. No way would my baby be done!!!!!!

(I appreciate other peoples reasons tho)

Its nothing to do with her. He is your baby.
But, its his willy so Im of the opinion that it should be a decision a man or boy makes when he is older unless its for medical reason.

once its gone its gone no going back :( thats all that scares me

and i know its very childish but what worries me is .....

when i was about 15 at school people would take the mic out of each other and make a joke like "haha just because you have been circumcised " even thought the lad hadnt - just to try and show him up!

or if some one had been off school ill people would take the mic and say they have been off school because they have been cercumsied and they would get the mic taken out if them and the rumor would then be spread that so and so had no foreskin

silly i know but kids take the mic out of the strangest things and i would hate the thought of my son being ashamed of himself or embarressed!
or thinking he is "different" when it comes to loosing his virginity

oh my goodness it really upsets me the thought of this being done to a poor little baby boy :( and im sorry as for saying they only cry because they are expossed, what balls! (excuse my language and the possible pun). If its not medically needed, there is no need to do it and i wouldnt put any child through the pain of it - regardless of if they remember it when they are older. I mean would u stick a pin(or an injection) in ur baby and say "oh its ok, they wont remember it" if it didnt need done?!

It's all about how you interpret need I guess. It's a part of some people's culture and a relatively quick and simple procedure that a baby of course wouldn't remember, not a big babaric pain-fest.

I remember reading somewhere that wives of circumcised men have lower cases of cervical cancer. Anyone else heard that?

even if thats true it may again be a cultural thing - cervical cancer rates are lower if you have fewer sexual partners - so it may be cultures where circumcision is common also have stronger sexual morals so women sleep with fewer partners.

I think it's because cervical cancer is triggered/caused by a virus so if the foreskin is not there, there are less crevices for nasties to lurk in lol.

Im not guna sit here and say you ladies are wrong for having your baby boys circumsized, because you have had it done for your own personal reasons.
But i would never have my boy done, i have no reason too and as i said in a earlier post there are ways to keep a penis hygienic without circumsison.
