Hey guys,

So i've just got back from seeing the consultant. Everything is fine and she is happy with me and baby etc. Just a shame I'm not! :shakehead:

There are no real signs of her coming as yet but I have a sweep on Sat. If that fails which the consultant seemed to think may, then I have been booked in for an induction on 23rd.

I will be going in a 9am and not coming out until i've had her. Have also been warned that the induction could take up to 3 days to actually work and even then may lead to c-section :shakehead:

So not happy :-( xxx

Aww no ... i no just how u feel. the thought of xmas in hospital is horrible isnt it. i hope ur baby decides to make an appearance on its own soon or if not i hope the induction is super quick and ur home b4 xmas. I've got a sweep booked for xmas eve....... we may all be in hospital beds together at xmas at this rate if december babies dont get a move on. best of luck for saturday hun xx

Is there a reason that theyve set that as an induction date?

You can decline it and go later if you want to, and both you and baby are fit and well :)

It's because I have a big baby and I am carrying extra fluid aswell. Measuring 44 weeks today so they are doing things slightly earlier with me. I tried pursuading them to do it even sooner ie, sweep today and induction over weekend but they wouldn't. They have to follow procedure apparently... xxx

Stupid procedures arent they ! u would think they would make some allowances over xmas and new year cos surely having ladies in for inductions over that time means more staff needed etc.... Im kind of in the same position just a few days later because I will be having a sweep on xmas eve like i said and then if that fails being inducted on new years eve ! happy new year to me ! xx

Oh hun thats so crappy :(
:hugs: Hope bubs comes before then, Im terrified Im gonna spend xmas day in hospital too, everyone keeps telling me thats what will happen but no one really understands how it would feel if any of us had to actually do it :(
What hospital are you having her in hun? xx

OH no!

I really hope that the industion works on saturday, and you have a week yet hun to go into labour normally.

I bet they do do some nice extra things to try to make it really nice in there over xmas for the staff and mums , so I'm sure it won't be awful, once you have your baby, your'll be happy as larry, and all your family and freinds will be off work for visiting you and baby X

they dont all end in c sections i was induced and i had a natural labour i was terrified of c section too but i didnt come to that so dont worry xx

Awwww Hun I'm so sorry to hear u may be in over Xmas.
I hope bb decides to come this weekend so u can b home n relax :(

I agree hun :) having her in Bridgend hospital, South Wales! Nice ward and lovely staff there so will be looked after but still... xxx

I've got everything crossed that things happen for you and you don't need the induction. These December babies are troublesome!

thanks girls for all your good wishes - really helping me feel alot better :) really down in the dumps at the moment... I know i'm not that much overdue but it is such a pain... xxx

Awe! What a lovely Christmas present tho!

Agreed hun :) just not the way we planned it! We'd even bought her a gorgeous Christmas Day outfit... :wall2: Damn forward planning! :shakehead: xx

Feel little the same, due boxing day but have been booked in for sweep tomorrow. They won't induce me as had previous section, but I'm not too fussed about being in hospital over Xmas, more so my seven year old having Xmas day without me :-( My midwife and consultant have been fab though and suggested the early sweep as they said they'd rather get their patients in and out before Xmas! Just have to make most of it I suppose and take in nice food and drink to have!

aaawww, you are so lucky being able to have a sweep early - they are doing mine 2 days early because of the extra fluid I am carrying and big baby etc but they wouldn't do it any earlier than sat! I so wanted them to do one at the hospital today and then induce me over the weekend but they wouldn't :-( My consultant said that Xmas is pretty quiet in the hospital so she said that my induction shouldn't be delayed at all like many can be etc so I guess that is good in a way. Just hope it works super quick! xx

Will keep my fingers crossed for you munchkin! Don't know how successful it's likely to be for me tomorrow, I'll be 38+5 and need my cervix to be "favourable" so it's more likely to work. Might give it a good talking to later, don't want it to be a waste of time and just end up feeling a bit violated lol x

thanks hun :) keeping my fingers crossed for you tomorrow too hun :) xxx

Ahhhh ok i see, well fingers crossed something happens for you before then :)

I was so stressed out about going overdue and being in hospital over xmas but luckily my LO decided to come a day early!!

I know how you feel Munchkin - the idea of being in over Christmas doesn't fill me with joy but I think the main reason I don't like the idea of it, is if I have to stay in overnight on my own!

Let's just hope things happen before then!
