Do any of you have a silly or unusual Christmas tradition?
I was talking to my boyfriend the other day about this, and as its babies 1st christmas (he'll be 5 months) but we want to do something that is special to us... And that we will do every year!
My boyfriends favourite film is Muppets Christmas Carol... So we have decided, to get our new Jammies on and watch the DVD on the couch EVERY Christmas eve :) makes me so excited! And hope even when my boy is older he will still come round to watch it with us :)

Before we had LO we'd always play a log fire DVD on the TV, play Christmas tunes ranging from oldies to modern and have a wee drink while we put the tree up, then we'll watch Christmas themed movies like The Gremlins, Santa Claus 1,2 and 3 etc in the run up to Christmas. Last year we did the usual but didn't have any more than two wee drinks because LO was here and only 5 months. It'll be same again this year :) We also started the tradition of making our own Christmas dinner last year which was great. (I guess I can have a nice time with my little family then  ) xx

My only tradition is getting new pjs and ordering a take away and then watching home alone lol it's my Xmas film xxxx

We always have a present on xmas eve which is normally a dvd which we watch then!! My mum used to give us presents before xmas to get us all in the xmas mood and we used to get our new underwear and pj's for the big day a couple of days before too!!

Aww i want this too.... :) so lovely...im going to suggest to OH now! :) xxx

I've always done the new PJs for Christmas day. We'll be on them all day if we're staying in.

I think we'll do the Christmas film thing too BUT I have so many I don't know which one will be the main one. I did fall in love with Polar Express last year. Believe it or not I only watched it for the first time then.

My sister has invited us for Xmas dinner but I don't know whether to go or not. I kinda want our first Christmas together but I know I'll enjoy it more if I don't have to cook everything.

Using Tapatalk can't see no tickers grrrrr.

We're out all day on Christmas Eve because it's my Cousins (10), my Neices (5) and FIL's Birthdays so it's a pretty busy day visiting everyone! We always visit the in-laws last because they do a little buffet type dinner.

Jack has Christmas pyjama's to wear Christmas Eve and nobody is allowed to get him dressed until all the presents have been opened! We're also planning to get him a new bauble for the tree every year. Same for Newbie too when they arrive! :) So far thats our only traditions but i'm looking forward to writing to Father Christmas and leaving mince pies etc out for him when Jack's older :) x

Oh I like the idea of a special bauble for the tree :) xxx

My husband and I have homemade Stilton soup and crusty bread and watch love actually on Xmas eve xx

Love actually is mine and hubby's film- was our first date at the cinema- goes all gooey!! Xx

I have a few, On Christmas day we take it in turn to open presents until we have ran out. the person that was first the years before is last this year sort of thing.
I always put Our tree up on 1st december and change all air freshners to spiced apple to get the mood going. Then to the build up i go watch the lights get turned on, visit all my family up north.
And the night before we go to midnight mass then put the kids in bed have a drink. Then run all presents down stairs and prepare everything for dinner the next day so all i have to do is turn it on.
Also i loved making mince pies/tarts in the build up and having the tunes playing like mad. Can't wait this year. We are now a proper little family and i am over the moon about it x x x

Even though 3 out of us 4 kids have moved out we make sure each year we all go round and put up Mum's tree....

Normally that same day (but later in the evening) our tree will go up at home as well.

I always have new PJ's on Crimbo Eve and they get bunged on as soon as it is dark LOL...

Steak sarnies and Baileys on Crimbo Eve. I also try to make sure I stay up until after midnight to 'see in' Christmas

We both go to our parents for dinner (and hook up at some point later. OH usually comes to my folks for drinks and we end the night as his folks)

Boxing day I do loads of party food in the evening and we open a bottle of something fizzy. We rarely get dressed on Boxing day.

I normally do us a dinner in-between crimbo and NY.

This year is going to be super amazing though as we're going to be starting traditions with our own little baby. I am excited about Christmas but the fact bub will be here makes it even more exciting...

xxxxxxxx

We go to a Christmas shop close by and buy 2 new tree decorations, so we each choose a new one. I love the snowman movie and watched this with my family and now oh and I watch it in Xmas eve. We usually go to midnight mass but as we will have LO and my dad will be here this year we won't bother.
I think maybe get new jammies could be a new one for us, we also buy a Christmas jumper and wear it on Christmas Day! Lol

Since having our lo we do a box beg of dec with xmas goodies for xmas eve, we open it together andinside we have treats for usall, xmas pjs etc

The tradition on my side of the family - which I've always done but hubby dosen't lik to take part in (but I'll let my kid take part in too) is to open 1 pressie (normally smallest) the night before just before you go to bed.

That's after snuggling up on sofa under a blanket in pjs watching a movie of course :D

I love, love, love Christmas!

Our traditions are:
The Christmas Tree Hunt - My dad, myself and my two siblings go out to pick a Christmas tree a week before Christmas. We visit 4 or 5 places and inspect them all carefully before choosing! We usually end up back at the first place we visited! Then we go home, put it up, put Christmas songs on and we all decorate it.

Christmas Decorations - When I was a baby, Mum and Dad started putting a tree decoration in my Christmas stocking. This has carried on so now my siblings and I each have our own box of tree decorations. Now I've left home, mine go on my own tree.

Christmas Eve - Early evening (once it's got dark) we all go for a walk (and the dog too) to find some holly and berries to put up around the house. Then we go home for dinner. We light lots of candles in the living room and put the fire on. Dinner is usually snacky bits like mini kievs, samosas, sausages wrapped in bacon, veg sticks, dip, crisps etc. And we eat in the living room watching a Christmas film. We all hang up our stockings on the fireplace (yes even at 27 years old!) and we all open one present. Now that we're older, my sister and I do Christmas stockings for my Mum and Dad too.

Even though I don't live at home now, I hate to be left out of these traditions and I hope to carry them on with my own family too.

My dad made a snowman from a toilet roll when he was in primary three.

Every year, mr toiletroll snowman tops my mums tree instead of a star x

aww so sweet.

On Christmas eve I take my niece and nephew on a walk around the town to the best Christmas decorations in gardens with the dogs. It used to be so that everyone at home could get wrapping done while i distracted them but its such a lovely thing, everyone's been traveling to my parents house from all round the country and usually sick and overtired and its a lovely relaxing christmasy evening walk. They are 16 and 13 now but we still do it because its become our special tradition and its lovely it really touches me when they start planning the walk as soon as they arrive. I hope that one xmas soon I get to take my own child on such a walk to.
x Daisy
