While on the subject can I just ask if it's the done thing to take a gift to a Christening? If so, what to get? I've actually never been to one before and my friends little boys is in 2 weeks!
Ive been to quite a few Christenings and have always taken a present, whilst at the christening other people that walked in the room had presents to give as well so the first time i was very glad i did take one as like you I was usure.
I suppose the "norm" is to give something that is a keepsake so to speak. At the first Christening I gave:-
1) A personnalised keepsake box with babys name written on the top and inside it had a birth certificate schroll holder, silver plated brush and comb, silver plated "my first curl box" and a bunny toy. And becuase my OH was the Godfather to the baby being Christened I got a Twinkle Twinkle bangle for OH to give to her from him.
At the second Christening I gavet :- A Childrens Bible Book (This family in particular were very religious so it seemed appropriate) a Christening photo album which was gorgeous and a pretty babys photo frame.
At the third Christening I gave :- A photo frame with a big window in the middle for a big picture to go in and then 12 little windows round the edge from month 1 to month 12 so they could put a new picture in for each month of babies first year and some money to go in his child trust fund.
I really cant remember what I gave for other Christenings.
Its difficult becuase you never know what gifts other people are getting and he/she could end up with 2 of the same.
Hope that helps?
