naming day...ideas please!

It's not for a while yet - end of June but we're having a naming day for ella-rose and combining it with a joint 30th for me and my dh. I called the registry office and they wanted almost £300 to come and do the naming ceremony so we thought sod that, we'll do it ourselves! Have any of you lovely ladies done anything similar? I have a few ideas but I'm not really sure how to work it so any ideas would be welcome!

I havent done it yet, but having our at the end of June and its going to cost us about £50 I brought a book, cant remember whats its called right now but Ill go check and get back to you and then wrote our own 'service'. Im asking a family friend to perform the reading and just hiring a local cricket pavillion (which is only £20). Ive had about 3 or 4 people offering to help make the food and someone offered to help make the invitations.

I think youll get a fair few people offering to help as its something that isnt widely done. Most people offering to help have never heard of a naming day and are just curious really!

I never even thought of doing it ourselves! Our local registry office wants about £300 too! I'll be keeping an eye on this thread lol!

The books called 'New Arrivals' by the british humanist association. You can buy it off their website for £7, and it says it can take up to 28 days for delivery but I think it took about a week . There are other books you can buy as well but honestly, you can get everything you need from this.

Im booking all mine tomorrow. Very excited I brought Paige a dress at christmas for it and Im hoping by the end of June she might actually fit in it lol.

Thanks hun, i'll have a look, its very exciting! I've booked a scout hut (a nice one with their own grounds) to have the party at, sending invites out next week!
