Hi,

Im looking for some advice from new mums who have just started or are just about to take maternity leave.

I work for local council but I have just checked maternity policy and it says nothing specifically about childcare vouchers specifically.

I dont think i get them paid for so was thinking to cancel them in preparation.

Just seeing what others did.

Any advice is appreciated as I really dont know what to do for the best. Xx

Hi Selina,
I had the maximum amount as was trying to get in credit as my 2 yr old was at nursery before I went on matt leave again, so I cancelled them as they can not be taken out of matt pay...
only to find out as it is a benefit my and most companies still continue to pay these for you. So I am glad I tried to get in credit and get the maximum as I will have 9 payments of the full amount and its very handy!

Message me if you have any other questions. xx

Did your employer pay them for you ontop of your maternity pay? I think employers have stopped paying them ontop now and they affect your smp I think? I think Ill need to contact my HR and ask when Im further along in my pregnancy. X

My employer didn't pay them for me when I went on maternity leave, I had to cancel, worth checking though

So I only got the 6 weeks at 90% then SMP and got my child care vouchers on top of this, it has not made a difference to maternity pay, it is company subjective though.
Hope you get them as its a huge help
