can anyone tell me what is the higher element of child tax credit. What you have to earn etc

Hiya

You are only not entitled to anything if your joint income exceeds £70k - So I think most of us are entitled to something!

We come under the £45-£50K PA banding and were still entitled to £1095 per year until Ky turned one, wich was about £89 per month. (Reduced to about £26.30 per month now he is over one).
If your joint income is between £25 and £50K, your basic Child Tax Credits would be around that figure, but that does not take into consideration more than one child or any childcare costs.

Hope this helps a little.
