Hi ladies,

Anyone been exposed to chicken pox when pregnant?my ds has now been diagnosed with it after two drs not being sure yesterday! Obviously keeping away is not an option! I've just had to have a blood test as although they THINK I've had chicken pox they want to check I'm immune!

There's a thread in tri 2 about this :) you'll be ok xx have a look for it xx

Hi hun,

I am the one who started the thread in tri 2

I've not been exposed but I have been around kids who have been (and we think the baby is now howing signs of CP)

I have never had CP but they did blood test me at my booking appointment, I have natural immunity.

I rang the maternity unit yesterday to make sure and guy I spoke to said I should be fine.

Obviously it's slightly different and I know I am immune as the kids I was around didn't have CP at the time, they had just been exposed to it.

I am sure your blood test will show you are fine and I hope DS is feeling better soon.

xxxxxxxxxx

Well if I had it as a child it was mild and I've had shingles 3 times but you can get shingles without having chicken pox. Can I be nosey and ask how they know baby is showing signs of cp? I've got midwife ties so hoping we'll find out then!

I think the baby was one of the children, not the unborn baby.
You should be ok, isn't shingles from the same strain as chicken pox?
Hope your son feels better soon and isn't too itchy!!! x

Yep sorry I meant my 6 week old neice when I said the baby is showing signs of having CP.

Not me or my baby

Thanks for your replies ladies! Oh I see I thought you meant your baby! He seems ok in himself thanks just a pain as I'm looking after him today and they took blood from my wrist and it's soooo sore having to lift him
With it!

Ouch!! x

My son had chicken pox when I was 11 weeks preg with my daughter. We both came out of it fine because I had the antibodies for it.

Did they say why the took it from the wrist hun?

xxxxxxx

My veins are tiny and they collapse easily and bcoz it was a Saturday the midwife had to take blood an the only place she could find she was confident about possibly getting blood from was my wrist. When I had my son they took 8 attempts to get a canula in and the only person who got it in was the surgeon! Xxx

My daughter was exposed last weekend, few more days till we find out whether she caught it! I've already had it, but you can catch it again. Really hoping not, don't think I can cope with both of us ill! If she does it means we can't go on our one holiday of the year though :(
