Honestly want to cry today. I was feeling so good and positive about starting a new cycle and trying AI as I’m at the point where my sex drive is suffering thanks to long term ttc.. but now I’m feeling hopeless.

My periods started getting longer after my miscarriage last year. I’ve gone from 26-28 days being my normal to having 30+ day cycles.
A medicated fet had a small part to play in one of those cycles.. but after my rounds of ivf last year and the year before my cycles always went back to being normal straight after.. so I don’t believe it would have changed other cycles.

It sucked that my cycles got longer but now this cycle has got me even more worried. Cd1 was Wednesday and was normal in amount for cd1 but it was super painful, worse then what I went through with my miscarriage! Cd2 was very very light but no pain. Cd3 I had one drop of pinky/red. And now today cd4 I have had nothing on a pad yet but still getting pinky/red stuff when I wipe which suggests fresh bleeding still?

Normally af lasts cd1 til at least cd4 and brown spotting til cd7. I get zero pain but lower back pain the day before. I’m terrified that I’m heading towards an early menopause (I know that sounds stupid at 28..) I just don’t understand what’s going on. :(

I will try talking to my doctor on Monday if I don’t seem to bleed anymore before then.. but wondered if it was normal to have an out of whack cycle like this and then go back to normal? Or actually get pregnant after.. has this happened to anyone before?

Hi Millie, so many things can affect AF but if you're worried it's best to go to the doctor. I don't know if it was coincidence or something else for me but before ttc I bled day 1 to 5 then spotting 6 and 7. But while ttc I bled days 1-3 and had spotting/light bleeding 4-7. Even though my cycle changed a bit I've just got my bfp. But again everyone is different and if you're worried there's no harm in getting checked out. Sending lots of baby dust to you for this month <3

BB xx

Hi Millie, if this is your first screwy bleed I wouldn't be worried. Sometimes hormones jump around and we can have a weird period every so often. If it suddenly becomes your new "normal" then it might be worth seeing a doctor about, as a big change like that can be a sign of something going on.

With regards to cycle length - the same thing happened to me when I entered my 20s. My doc told me that small shifts over time are normal and it might happen again when I enter my 30s or have a baby. As we age our hormone levels change, and that can shorten/lengthen your cycle. Since yours is only a few days off I wouldn't be worried about it. You're still in the average range. If anything, 26 days is very short, so 30 might be better.. gives your eggs more time to mature before they're released.

Thanks ladies xx

Was already feeling frustrated because of longer cycles.. but you are right Winterwolf it does give the egg a little more time which may be a good, its just annoying having a longer wait til AF!

Well it’s cd5 now and I’ve still had no real bleed since cd1/2. Its only there when I wipe and still pinky in colour. I just don’t understand it. I’ll see what happens next cycle I guess.
