Hi thanks for the post. Last night was hard he wouldnt settle when he was put down so he ended up sleeping with us. He seemed quite content with us but im just waiting to see what tonight will bring now as he has slept all day today only waking for feeds then straight back to sleep again!!! i think he might be getting back into his old routine of up all night sleep all day !!
The MW said yesterday was probably a growth spurt but he has lost weight again so he is going on the breast every 4 hours and when he has finished he is having ebm/forumla top ups and the mw is coming back on thursday so il see how that goes...hopefully my supply will go up soon because i havnt been giving him enough, probably why he was so unsettled
Sorry for jumping in. If I were you I'd check the 4 hourly feeds at the bf clinic tomorrow, I was always told at my bf group that a newborn should have 8-12 breastfeeds a day? 4 hourly would mean a maximum of 6 feeds in 24 hours.
sorry havnt been online lately cats chewed through the modem extension! at my moms at the moment.
The bf clinic told me every 4 hourly said that he should be feeding 6-8 times a day but he also cluster feeds in the evening so he has more feeds them aswell.
also midwife said the same thing at least 6 feeds a day.
He put on weight with the top ups and the midwife said since my milk is back in now i could maybe drop the top ups but he just isnt content i will feed him for ages and ages and he will still scream untill he is given a top up...i just dont know why he cant ever be full off me?
so i feel bad so i always end up giving him the top ups.
