we had a 3 door car when we had hannah and i couldnt get rid of it fast enough it was a nightmare

We used to always have 3 door cars, but when we bought our first house 4 years ago we decided that we should do the grown up thing and get married and prepare for the future, so we bought a 5 door Citroen.

It is a good size and is very reliable for being 5 years old. We were not planning on keeping the car if we were having twins, but as it is only one and the car has low millage and still looks quite good, we will keep it.

If we are struggling with space then we will get a bigger car. Our problem is going to be making the driveway bigger so that we can fully open all the doors to get all the baby stuff in the car. xx

because of the 3 doors and trying to get car seat in and out was a nightmare, especially at shopping centres and things, and it was always my worry that if we were involved in any sort of accident i couldnt get her out quick enough

Me and my DH had a three dorr car when we had our forst baby and it was difficult and annoying, but as sson as i found out i was having another we traded it in and got a bigger car as i werent going through all that again!
I have a mondeo now and the difference is amazing and have no problems whipping LO in and out of the car!

OH had a 2 door sports car anyway so that had to go :(

now got a 5 door car, i cant imagine having a 3 door, must be such a pain

5 doors are a lot safer too, in case anything happens, to get baby out etc!

We have a Nissan Pulsar 4x4, it's a 3 door and very large inside, I am also a little concerned about getting in and out but I can't afford to pay out for another car. Is there any good advice on what type of seats and such would help?

I had a little peugeot 205 3 door for a while. I found it easy as i could get into the back footwell to strap lo in rather than having to reach across him to do up the seatbelt. It was a godsend in the rain, saved getting a wet back!!! I now have a 5 door golf which is fine but going to be a bit on the small side when there's 3 little rascals!!!

xx

I've got a 3 door car ( VW Polo ) but we are also buying a bigger family car, hubby is selling his VW Bora and getting a VW Touran instead, if we all go out together then we will use the "family car" if its just me and squirt i reckon we will be fine in my car, i never even had a car when i had DD so the way i look at it is its bound to be easier than public transport even if its a bit of a struggle!!!

I don't think I could cope with a 3 door car what so ever. I'm thankful for the car I do have in baby respect (4x4) so putting in the seats etc is at waist level and not even having to bend down and in to get the seat fitted etc. I think I'd really struggle with a 3 door car now but on the other hand I do have a friend (expecting her 2nd) who has a 3 door corsa...she seems to get on fine with it, has a small fold up buggy in the boot and has never said anything about struggling. Perhaps it's down to personal preference and needs etc of the baby.

i have a 3 dr car and LO is going to be strpped into the front (no air bag). everyone else can break their back climbing into the back seat :moon:

I have a 2 seater sports car........hmmm, could be in trouble there.
I bought myself a mini cooper S too, but that only has 3 doors and not a lot of boot space. But the car seat base's are brilliant! I've been practising with mine, and think I've got it down to a fine art. I'm going to keep one in my mom's 4x4, one in my mini and one in OH audi - then the car seat just clicks in and out at the push of a button without having to fiddle with the seatbelt everytime and disturb baby. I'm going to save the sports car for when baby is a bit bigger me thinks!
Obviousley i havn't tried it with a real baby in the seat yet, but I think it will be ok, and I've heard brilliant reports about these car seat base's. My major worry is boot space 2 be honest.

Piglet xx

Yeah I had a 3 door car when kieran was younger and it is a pain in the arse, so before LO's born I am going to get a 5 door. It's just so much easier!!!
