This heartburn is killing me :( Nothing i try helps and it gets so bad it makes me sick everynight. It starts about 5pm then its there all night. Really hope its not going to be like this for the next 11 weeks xx

I presume you have tried Gaviscon?
You can get tablets off your G.P that should help, not sure but I think ranitidine is safe during pregnancy.

I feel your pain Nikki!!! I had acid reflux really really bad from around 26 weeks, anything I ate or drank just felt like it didnt go anywhere and came back up. Made me feel so sick. I had this constant burning in my throat. I just took gaviscon or rennies (I found the rennies tablets the best actually), and it seemed to help. Don't lie down on your back after you have eaten. For some reason it died down for me quite recently, I dont know why. May just be how baby is lying, and hopefully it will improve soon for you xxx

yeah ive tried gaviscon but i cant drink it without it making me sick and i cnat chew the chewy ones lol i gag at the slightest thing. I might have to go to the gp and see what he suggests xx

Iv really suffered from it something awful... Sometimes gaviscon works others it doesn't... Iv really been watching what I'm eating as something's just aggravate it even more.
Ouch ouch ouch!
Id def speak to your doctor about it as its not fair to suffer!xx

I got some Omeprazole from the doctor and it worked wonders. Still get the occasional bad day with it but it's well worth a try if your really struggling!

When I got it really bad I have milk as well as gavisgon. Rennie peppermint tablets work great and taste lovely. Xx

Is it just the aniseed gaviscon you've tried? I now buy peppermint gaviscon by the gallon (well, not literally, I think it's 650ml!) and it goes down easy. I couldn't even dream of having the aniseed, yuck!
Before that I used to take the strawberry flavoured gaviscon tablets, which were good when I was out and about xx

Ive had both heartburn and acid reflux for ages now, and have got loads of gaviscon on prescription - I hated it too to begin with, and gagged whenever I had the liquid - now I just drink it from the bottle!

The tablets I cant chew, but I do suck on them (with a bottle of water handy). I find I wake up a few times in the night and have to take the liquid stuff - its just horrible. I've also woken up quite a few times gagging on my own vomit (well, the acid just sort of creeps up my throat!).

Im just relying on the fact that it will go after bubs is born - but it does make sleep very difficult. I also find that drinking milk helps, and steering clear of fizzy drinks or anything acidy like orange juice.

Aw hun, you poor thing! :hugs: Best to go gp and see what they say, hope it improves really soon. I found drinking milk helps too. L:et us know how you get on x x

that sucks i have the extra big bottle of tesco gaviscon which is like a fiver and it works a treat :( sorry you're strugglin'

Im with Spammy Omezrepole from the Drs works wonders from me, I had it really bad and now I take one a day and its gone

I didnt have any heartburn last night :) Ill see how it is over the weekend and if its still bad ill go and see the gp on monday. Thanks for all your replies ladies xxxxxx

Try rennies cool or something along them lines. You can let them dissolve on your tongue rather than chew them. They're abit chalky but not to the point of being disgusting and I usually can't stand tablets like them!! x

I can't stand heartburn! I have about 5 pillows at night to keep me as upright as possible! I spoke to my midwife and was given Gaviscon and Zantac on repeat prescription, so I'd ask, then you can get it all for free as well :)

I was on omeprazole from the doctors too and then the doctor gave me randitine or something similar and they don't work at all!! Have to take 2 a day instead of one and I still have to swig gaviscon out the bottle! Hoping to get lil man out ASAP so that it goes away. Xx
