I am sick of people telling me i should learn how to drive. i know I should and I will!! :x I just wanted to carry out my own little research to see how many of you are in my situation. Thanks for answering!

yes i can and i do have my own car and its the best thing a ever did other than having kids and getting married, i feel like i have my legs cut off when for any reason i dont have it and public transport is rubbish

yes i do and have my own car... when i passed my test 2 n half years ago, it was the day i lost my legs

I love the independence of driving. I passed my test when I was 18 so I've been driving for 20 years now. Carcraft screwed up registering my car and I didn't find out until I went to tax it at the end of July so I was without my car for a month and it wasn't pleasant. My OH doesn't drive and he finds the public transport a pain in the rear as well as prolonging his journey to work. Unforunately, we can't afford the driving lessons so he can continue learning from a few years ago.

My answer was I'm learning to drive.

I had a bad instructor a couple of years ago who I had to complain about, and because of him I have been *really* put off driving (I'd also spent about £300 and got nowhere), but now I have Ryan I have realised how it's practically essential to be able to drive to be able to have much of a life :(

So I didn't want to learn but now I am. I'm glad because although he's a bit of a nutter, my instructor is fantastic and I actually enjoy my lessons. I had my third with him last night and it was mental lol.

I don't drive, but would like to learn soon.

I couldn't learn when I was 17 as I have seizures and at that age I was having very frequent attacks and the doctors advised against driving until I had gone 2 years without a seizure. Well, I haven't had a seizure since my boy was 1 and he is almost 3 now so the time is almost here! I'm 25 now so I've waited 7 years so far to start!

I passed my test when I was 18. I've just sold my car though so I use OH's. It took me two goes to pass - this is really embarrassing but my first test was 'terminated in the interests of public safety'! :rotfl:  I did leave a bit of of short gap when pulling out at a busy juction - but I would have been there all day otherwise :rotfl:

I can drive but have given up just now as I don't feel I have good enough concentration or reflexes to be driving. Will be back on the road asap. xx

I voted yes i drive & i have a car, it took me 4 goes till i passed my test though
my legs would simply shake with nreves on my tests!!!
i drive everywhere, only walk if i'm forcd to :rotfl: :rotfl:

I've been driving for 15 years and would have difficulty without a car as I live in a very hilly spanish village where the nearest bus stop is up a long steep hill! DH doesnt drive so I'm pretty much the family taxi service until DH gets his licence! I hope he does soon cos I'm not going to be able to fit in my car in a few months!

i managed to pass my test back in may, when i was 18 and a half weeks pregnant!! OH has the car most of the time for work tho, so I'm still well acquainted with public transport...

I had been driving quite regularly, but have recently stopped as I don't seem to concentrate enough!!!

I dont drive but i want to learn at some point. I do have a car though, well i paid for everything but only DH drives it :)

I've failed my test twice and have had a couple of months break since last test, but have just started lessons again with a new instructor, so hopefully third time lucky

Already have a car, just need my licence :D

I passed my driving test when i was 17 and have been driving ever since. Now 24 and just got a new car.

Only learn if you feel you really want to. I know loads of people who don't and they get by just fine.

I passed my test in July a few days after my 30th birthday.
It's great as for years it wasn't something I could ever envisage myself doing normally like everyone else and now I can.
Me and OH share the car so I get it a couple of days a week which is nice if it's bad weather getting the children to and from school but I also feel guilty too, I'm not sure why - I think because of the environment, fuel emissions etc, I'm not quite used to it yet and not 100% happy, see it as more of a guilty luxury, an indulgence.

We live out in the boonies and its a 5 mile round trip to the local shop in the nearest village. And the bus service is useless. So cars are a must here. I learnt to drive when I was 17, had 12 lessons and passed first time. They say the older you are the longer it takes to learn, on average one lesson for every year of your life

If you live in a built up area with good public transport then save yourself the hassle and don't worry too much with a car. But learning is still good all the same. But owning one if you can do without is far cheaper  If we lived in a town we'd only have one car for the both of us. I'd bike and walk everywhere. It costs us anything up to £2000 a year or more to run the second car once you consider fuel, road tax, insurance, maintenance... Not cheap and I'd really rather put the money elsewhere, but its the price you pay for living rural.

Hi i can drive and did have my own car for 5 years then moved to another country and sold it but now i drive my OH's well ours :D

Learn in ur own time and dont feel rushed into it good luck for when the time comes
