Hi kelly, not sure but think dr good move, start to find out why no af, I would keep trying in the mean time cant hurt also fun too :cheer: good luck x

awwww hun big  for you.

Im not completely sure about the answer to your question but like you I also came off microgynon in September of last year. My cycles are also all over the place but I know that after being on the pill it can sometimes take several months for your body to get back to normal. I know that Ive read a few posts on here from laides that have also gone for months with no AF.
Going to see the GP is a good idea to get some advice and reassurance but for now keep your chin up and hopefully we'll all have some luck soon xxx

Technically, you COULD get pregnant without having a period if you caught the first egg that you released since you went off the pill, but I think the general answer to your question is no. If you're not having a period, it means that you're not ovulating, and even if you DO have periods, it's no guarantee that you're ovulating because there is such a thing as anovulatory bleeding where your body just gives up and restarts itself.

It's not uncommon for a woman not to have her first real period for a while after stopping the pill because your body has to take its time to reset itself and become accustomed to your natural hormones again.

I say this to pretty much everyone, but it's because I believe it: you should think about starting to chart your cycle if you don't do it already. It can be frustrating at first, especially if you seem never to be ovulating, but it will at least give you an idea of what your body is up to and you'll be able to see relatively reliably when you finally do ovulate for the first time so you can get your groove on just when you need to. :) It tends to be a help to a doctor as well because it gives them a good picture of what's happening as well and if there is a hormonal problem it can be much easier to diagnose. For instance, I could tell from my charts before I was ever diagnosed that I had a high probability of PCOS b/c my temps were erratic and I had several patches of fertile cm but no ovulation (thus no af).

What were your cycles like before you took the pill?

Hi Ladies

Thanks so much for you answer's xxxx

I have been on the pill since i was 13 im now 24 so a long time.

My periods were every 21 days and really regular.

I have only just stared trying for a baby as couldnt wait any longer for AF.

I had what i had though was implantion 5 days after the deed, then metallic taste and lots of back and side aches. I had got all my hopes up...... but after 5 BFN have decided I need to know my cycle as its costing me a fortune!!

Wish you ladies all the luck in the world , thanks for ur time xxxxxxx

hope af (or bfp) turns up soon so you know what's going on when. lots of luck to you!

Some people get lucky and go from stopping the pill one month to getting pregnant without ever getting their period- a friend has managed this twice!!! However, it was within the first month each time and she got lucky.

Cyprus- I stopped taking Microgynon before my BFP. My first period arrived like clockwork 4 weeks to the day after I took my last pill- my secod AF arrived over 5 weeks later, my third never showed up (because I was pg) but would have been about 6 weeks later according to my due date etc. It was really frustrating and I sympathise with you- the one time you need AF to behave and settle down it's going haywire!

Good luck TTC everyone! (lots of baby dust heading your wayxxx)

It took me about 18 months to settle to periods every 30ish days after coming off microgynon. I have records somewhere, but off the top of my head, it was something like 90 days, 65 days, 55 days, 60 days, 45 days, etc between periods. 2 steps forward and one step back in shortening the cycles...

Basically, if AF hasn't come, it's because you haven't ovulated. Microgynon works by making your body think it's pregnant and it takes a while for the hormones to get out of your system - often the longer you've been on it, the longer it will take. The same thing happens after giving birth or occasionally after a m/c - it can take a little while to settle down. Doctors generally prefer to let things sort themselves out, especially after the pill, because the only thing they can really do is give you a progesterone shot and hope the resultant sudden fall in the hormone precipitates a period. Clearly if the reason you're not getting your period is because of the artificial hormones in your body, this isn't a great idea! However, if you don't get your period by the end of this month, it's definitely worth mentioning it to your doctor, just in case there's another cause.

My doc advised coming off the pill a year before starting TTC, which is the same advice I've seen in several pregnancy books. Sometimes ppl get lucky, but I'm afraid it's just a question of being patient.

Hey hun,

My last period was in March 08 and I conceived my little princess in june... so inanswer to your question in my experience... YES you can get pregnant with no AF :o) xxx
