Callum James born 13/08 @ 12.26pm, weighing 6lb 14oz

Saturday 12/08 (40 +3) woke up went to the toilet and when I wiped it looked like clear snot with lines of blood in (sorry for TMI) as the day went on it was a light brown/ bloody colour, later that evening started to have some mild lower back pain and slight period type pains in the tops of my legs every now and then and just put it down to pregnancy pains.

On Sunday me and OH decided to have a BBQ, pains were coming and going had been ignoring them, as I had thought that when my contractions started they would be around my tummy, OH thought it would be best to start timing them around 16.30, they were lasting about 45-50 seconds every 7 to 8 mins. We watched the closing ceremony of the Olympics while it was on I was on my ball the whole time to ease my back pain. By 23.00 contractions were lasting around a minute every 4 minutes or so but every now and the there would be a break between the contractions of about 8 minutes. OH phoned the hospital to let them know spoke to a midwife there and she said to try and stay home till the contractions were around every 3 minutes for about an hour or unless I couldn't handle the pain any longer.
By 2am contractions were lasting just over a min and were every 3 and a half minutes, I got to 3am and they were coming every 3 mins and had been for the last hour. We got our stuff together and headed off to the hospital.

Once at the hospital I was examined and was 4cm while being examined my waters broke and was told that the little fella had poohed.
Contractions kept coming and was given gas and air.
Not 100% on times but by 8am I was examined again still only at 4cm so they decided to put me on a hormone drip to try and speed things up, they kept adding more as nothing was happening apart from my contractions were getting stronger and more painful.
By 11am I was still at 4cm and had been up since Sunday morning I was knackered and asked for an epidural which took about 30 minutes. Once this was in I was so out of it I started to drift off about 15 minutes later alarms were going off and the room started to fill up with Doctors and nurses. Baby's heart rate kept dropping and I was rushed into theatre by this time I was crying my eyes out as I didn't know what was happening my OH came in a few mins later, Callum was born by C section and they also had to use forceps to get him out as he was stuck and his cord was round his neck.

We left hospital late Tuesday night and I'm so in love with my little man, horrible experience but so worth every little bit of pain.
