Got induced Thursday morning, 2 pessaries which gave me fake contractions! then a 3rd lunchtime, decided they could break my waters but didn't want me down till sat morning. Sat morning they broke my waters and then left me for about 3 hours to see if I'd go myself as I requested, bounced on the ball walked etc, then nothing happened had to give in and get connected to the drip. Started about 11.30am contractions didn't gear up till about 1.30pm, gas and air for a while, think about 3.30pm, then tried morphine, didn't do anything for me...everyone is different.
Requested epi at about 4.30pm as was getting out of control for me, had to wait an hour as doctor was in surgery, longest hour ever, he turned up put it in and it did nothing... Lol felt like I was waiting for ever, he came back topped it up and still nothing. 1 in 8 chance it won't work!
Was checked and was 7cm, but was not coping with the pain, just so intense. So they got another anaesthesiologist at 8pm when they had a change if shifts. She gave me remifentinol. Which was great lol. It's a pain killer hooked up to a drip that you can only use every 3 mins, so have to time it with contractions, which made me slightly anxious lol, you also need oxygen, which didn't bother me. I think I was just that grateful that something worked!!
So got to 10cm and was ready to push, intense pressure, wasn't totally numb like epi last birth (when it worked) so started pushing when I had the doctor with me, she checked and baby hadn't moved an inch.. Was still -2 even though I was fully dialated. Doctor said you can either keep pushing for hours and end up with a forceps delivery, or get c section. She was back to back like my son, so was not budging down birth canal. Decided c section as was exhausted, the transfer from labour ward to operating table was awful... Never had so much pain and no pain relief lol will never forget that part. Bit spinal and was amazing to not feel pain which felt like the first time in ages.
So c section was done, my beautiful baby girl delivered. She was perfect, so cute, dark hair and darker skin, totally different from my red hair pale skin son lol me and my husband have our mini me's Callie looks like me, my son looks like my hubby lol
I lost 2.2ltrs of blood, luckily my iron levels were very high to start with and dropped to 9, so avoided a transfusion. I'm on iron tabs etc.
She was born at 11.44pm sat night. Got discharged last night 48hrs later at 11.44 pm, had to beg to leave lol she's been feeding great and is a poop machine lol so many nappies!!
Recovery has been amazing!! Didn't get out of bed for about 20hrs, but since I've been great, up n down stairs, in and out bath shower, I've pooped and I can honestly say I feel so much better than what I did after having forceps delivery with my son, I'm more mobile with c section. I lost a lot of blood last time too, but it was double this time, which i feel as I'm very weak but overall I'm better
Forgetting my dodgy labour with every wee look and cuddle she gives me lol xxx
