It's a bit of a long one but I won't drag it all out too much! Went into hospital on thursday morning 07/08/08 to be induced as I was 11 days overdue. Got up to the ward at 8.30am as planned and had to wait to be seen by the consultant. As I was a previous c section the midwife couldn't prescribe me the prostin to get me started due to the risk etc so I had to wait. The midwife hooked me up to the machine so that once the consultant had seen me she could give me it straight away. Consultant came and signed off two doses so if the first one did nothing I could have another. Had first one and nothing happened for ages. Started getting niggles later on that showed up on the monitor though so they wouldn't give me second dose if changes were happening. Was left for the night to contract which were quite strong and was given a huge sweep which made them stronger! Was losing loads of blood and goo all night and was checked the next morning, cervix was thinning and open enough for them to pop my waters so they sent me to labour ward because babies heart rate had a blip which was due to her moving away from the monitor. Got there about 10am and had my waters broken which didn't do anything to start with but when I stood up for a bit and contractions started they started gushing which was really weird to feel lol. Contractions came on a lot stronger and I was desperate for pain relief but midwife said try and hold on because if I wasn't established then it would slow it all down. So I held on breathing through and she decided I was probably established now and hooked me up with gas and air which is amazing!! I went on for a long time with just that until it got too much and opted for a shot of diamorphine. Got me off my face and slowed things down a bit so I was hooked up to the drip to get things going. At this point I was only 3cm and in a lot of pain! Midwife switched over to another really lovely lady and the drip got things going a bit. Was examined to see I was only at 4cm and they were discussing c section again as I wasn't really loving with contractions. The consultant said you can go down now or wait two hours so I decided to wait. Was examined again at 6.30pm and I'd gone from 4cm to 8-9cm 
Midwife seemed quite shocked 
I soon had the hugest urge to push and just couldn't stop! The midiwfe checked again and said you still have a tiny bit to move just breath through it but I couldn't. She eventually said ok you can go now and it was such a relief! I pushed for 17 mins in all and she came out and was put straight on to me. She was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen! She cried and looked straight for food! She came out with her hand up by her face so I tore internally and bled a bit but was stitched up and I felt great! She weighed in a 7lb 13oz and is perfect in everyway! I can't believe I got my natural birth and it was worth every moment! We were sent home the next day and we're doing brill
