Hiya girlies,

Just got back from having my last ultrasound (at 36+6) - everthything is normal except the doctor said he could see some calcification of the placenta  . He didn't seem too worried about it but I am having it checked (dont know how / whats involved) next week.

Anyone else had this?

Hiya, the songographer mentioned this to me when I had my scan at 34 weeks. Calcification (hardening) means that part of the placenta has died or is dying. It is a normal occurance at this late stage of pregnancy for the placenta to mature and parts dies off. It wont harm your baby.
Obviously if it was excessive then it is a problem and baby would be delivered ASAP, but as your doctor was not concerned, everything must be fine and a normal part of the placenta life cycle.

thanks so much Happybunny - you've really put my mind at rest :D It sounded so scary
