Hi

You can have six cups of tea instead of your two cups of coffee.

I have a milky coffee as a treat. I read in a book you should try and limit yourself to 3 caffee drinks a day. I think I read it in a bounty book.

Have you tried de-caff coffee or half caff. I have never tired them so I cant tell you if there any good sorry.

Here is a reassuring study http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/6296263.stm
and another http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/1591026.stm they say you should have no more than four cups of coffee a day. I call it two because I like caffetiere coffee and it ends up strong when I make it.

It's confusing because in the US they sort of frown on women drinking caffeine in pregnancy. But most research says a small/moderate amount is ok. :D

Have your 2 cups then perhaps try and avoid caffeine most of the rest of the day :)

You may find you go off the taste of coffee a bit anyway :)

Thanx for that... I just need those 1st two in the mornings.. the rest of the day i usually either drink water, decaff coffee or diet coke (but as i said before i'vechanged to no caffeine)

Another question...
1. is Tap water ok to drink
2. Are sweetners safe
3. Quorn products

Try switching to de-caff coffee/tea. Honestly, buy a nice brand and you won't taste the difference. Even DH drinks de-caff now (although he doesn't know he does) and has never once complained, not even the first change over cup of coffee type thing. Just don't opt for the supermarket cheepie, I'm sure that's a little different?

1) Yes you can drink tap water

2) Sweetners have already been prooved to be bad for adult consuption, they contain ingredients heavily linked to things such as Parkinsons Disease and certain cancers. I'd not use sweetners during pregnancy based on simply knowing that, you have no idea (if it can do that to an adult) what they might do to a growing baby. Certain sweetners are supposed to be 'ok' while pregnant, others are on the "No" list while pregnant. Do some reasearch if you want to continue using them but honestly you are far better using sugar.

3) Yes you can eat quorn, that's fine.

i loved my 6 cups of tea and 3 cans of coke a day b4 i got pg- but i went right off them in 1st tri (maybe natures way of keeping away the bad stuff?!) i only started wanting it again halfway thru 2nd tri.
i'm sure i read that up to 6 cans of coke OR 4 cups of tea OR 3 cups of coffee is safe. i'm not sure if those amounts are exactly correct tho, better check in ur pregnancy book (the green&purple one) or emmas diary. its one of those i read it. x

I always drink milky coffee, all day long 6 -8 cups, sometimes more, if i go without my coffee i get withdrawal headaches  never did me or my pregnancies any harm. Go with what you feel best.
