Just wanted to see if anyone could give me any idea if this would be a useful purchase?

http://www.mothercare.com/Caesarean...pd.html#avtc=4c04153f839ac40d369c45f2c9439680

Im booked for a section in just over a week's time as baby is breech and just wanting to make sure I have all bases covered to make a speedy recovery. Saw this when browsing the mothercare website and wanna know if any of you post-section mummies think it'd be a worthwhile purchase?

Hi There i had a section with my youngest due to him also being breech.
personally i wouldnt buy it, i couldnt bear having anything touching my scar. even the big pants and my trousers that wernt even sitting on my scar line irratated it so i wouldnt.

thease days i try to opt for big pants still (as much as i hate them) as anything remotely sitting on the scar line irratates it. good luck with your section xx

also what i would say is try and get air round it as much as possible. sometimes even now i go to bed without anything on the bottom so nothing is rubbing or sitting on the scar. x

For £20 I wouldn't bother personally. Your best bet is get some granny knickers that are maybe a size too big so there is room for your maternity pad and excess room so you can pull them right up and they won't dig in. Sexy I know but very very comfy! My other best buy was some lounging pants from tescos, complete mistake buy but actually ended up being very handy as they had a waste band that pulled right up and over my scar. I'll have a look see if I they're still on the website as they were s godsend!

Eta: can't find them :( but just to also say that the above is all for while you've got visitors or when you are out. As MSYB says when people aren't around let as much air get to the wound and also in the early days after surgery I used my hairdryer on a cool/medium setting on the wound after showering to make sure I got rid of excess water because I couldn't bare to touch it enough to be able to dry it with a towel.

Thanks guys. I will be stealing all my OH boxer shorts i think and putting a maternity pad on the scar if i can stand it as a bit of padding when up and about as i have a tendancy to bump into things. Got some maternity leggings too that are over bump ones so will probs be still living in them post preg.

What did u use in the shower after did u just wash with the water or is there a particular shower gel etc that i can use? Having the best bubble bath night before section as i know will be a while before i can have another. Xxx

I just used water on my scar for the first 4months lol (but i had have alot trouble with my scar for about 4months) i have bubble baths and use shower gel now but i dont put anything soapy on my scar. x

I used cussons new mum bubble bath and it was fine, it's very healing xx

How long after did u find u could take a bath again? Xxx

The midwife should check your wound after 5-7 days and if all is well will tell you you can bath.

I wouldn't buy the belt. The times I felt I needed padding there I rolled up a muslin and placed that under my trousers.

My midwife came on the 2nd day I was home and told me to have a bath and the just lie on the bed and let it dry naturally xx
