Argh well I was VBAC all the way until I had a growth scan on weds. I have polyhydraminos (excess fluid) baby is large (that bits fine) but the head measurement is off the scale beyond 95th. I don't care about pushing out a big baby but LO had a big head and became distressed and I've decided with that in mind it's not worth the risk again. They said after his delivery he was going to struggle to come out and this one is bigger by sounds of it although the ultra sounds can get it wrong.

I'm still worried that the baby is not in proportion but mw said that because baby is bigger the measurements seem big but baby will look fine once he/she is born.

So my consultant appointment is next week the day before due date and mw said that would be to discuss booking in for csection.

All this time I wanted a VBAC but now all I want is a csection!

With my second I said that if I went in to labour naturally I would attempt a VBAC (after an emergency section with first). I was almost at 42 wks and no signs of labour so I just said "right, I want a section" LOL.

Once I made the decision I had the pre-op the same day and the C-section the day after! He was 10lb 8 oz so I was actually pretty glad I opted for the section.

Whichever way you deliver I hope everything goes well xx

Thank you :)

My mind is made up now I just checked the measurements of LO his head was 37cm this one is 36.5 atm.

Will you csection this time?xx

I'm stuck on this too - I had a section with my 1st - failed induction - didn't get past 4cm! And now I'm expecting twins I know I will be offered a section - and in so stuck:
Pros:
We can time it right so can get someone to watch our Son
Will be safest thing for the babies

Cons:
Recovery time afterwards
Having to look after 2 babies & a toddler whilst recovering

I have an appointment with a consultant on 12th May so will hopefully talk a bit more about it then xx

Yeah it's such a personal decision. I love the thought of going through a natural labour but hearing the heart beat drop like before and the urgency that came after it suddenly dawned on me I don't want to risk another lo going through that again.

I think I didn't progress past 6cm?

Hutchy -recovery time wise you might be quick? How exciting with twins :) Did you have any complications after?

I was quick as recoveries go but still couldn't drive and walk too far. This time I've accepted that we may all be house bound with cabin fever but I'm hoping LO will be happy for a couple of weeks watching a lot of telly & going to the park opposite as I can't really go anywhere else!

Plus it's only for a few weeks so I've told myself to suck it in this time!xxx

I didn't have any complications other than the usual side effects of constipation, bad back and not being able to walk more than a few steps at a time! Looking back it wasn't as bad as some people make out but at the time it was pretty painful!
My hubby wants me to have a section so I said to him last night if I do you have to take our Son to nursery and pick him up every day for 6 weeks as I won't be able to drive! He went a bit quiet after that lol xx

I decided yesterday after changing my mind so much over the past few weeks. My baby is unstable lie and I might not be able to have it naturally anyway. We (doctors, midwife, partner and mum) decided yesterday that the uncertainty has gone on long enough and I'll have my section next week.

Yeah I think they don't realise the second time round that it's going to be harder as it's not just you and one baby!

I'm not sure if it's because we have an automatic but I called my insurance company and they were fine after 2.5 weeks for me to drive but said do it out of hours when not in traffic. It's depressing the clutch that puts most pressure on your scar.

It wasn't driving for me that was the problem holding the car seat was a killer so I'm really going to take it easy. I think it will be chaos for us for a few weeks!

Sounds similar I have unstable lie on my notes too. I think you are right to go for section like you said the uncertainty drains you and I've heard really positive stories with planned sections all very calm etc

It's was the last thing I wanted but now it's the safest option for LO right now and it's half a worry off my mind, the other half will go when I see a healthy baby!

Hi,

I've had three sections. First one cos baby was breech, then second one I was going for VBAC but baby still wasn't here so had sec at 41+6! Both of these were really quick recovery. I did need some help second time around to look after dd1, who was 15 months.

This time, my recovery was a lot slower, as they said it would be. Still a great experience though.

First time round I was gutted not to have a natural birth. But, I soon realised it doesn't matter how they get here xx

Hi

I had an emergency c section with my son and planning a vbac atm. Although I have to go into labour naturally and wont b induced.

I just dont think i will go on my own. Ive been getting pains n that but i doubt anythngs happening and cnt help but think if i go 10 days over and end up having to be sectioned anyways i will be kicking myself and thinking why did i bother going 10 days over n i cuda had my baby earlier lol...

Also so many midwifes keep saying aw because u didnt go into spontaneous labour on ur own the first time you probably wont this time u may juat get a section....

Will b interested now to go to my app on the 18th when i will b 40+1 to see how my cervix is. If its hard high and not looking favourable i may opt for section. But then again i know it can change over night...

Sooo much to consider well saying im confused on what i should do x

I thought the head didn't grow much in the last weeks of pregnancy, that it is more body fat that they gain?

LOs head was off the charts but he was almost 11lbs so I guess it was normal for him. It was actually easier than my first birth and I didnt even need stitches so its not always a problem but I can understand your concerns.

Sunbeam, youve probably had your LO by now seeing your dates!

But i just wanted to reassure you I decided on a section with my second after an emergency with my first. My eldest had also got in distress during labour and it really is so nerve wrecking! My second section was calm and relaxed. I've also not found the pain or recovery half as bad this time either. You'll be fine!

I really need to get a new phone every time I go to reply my battery dies and its an iPhone 4!

Thanks bunnyN reassuring to know you had a good birth - 11lbs you are my hero!

Littlemonkey-how are you getting on with LO? I can see you were up early writing that post! No baby yet have consultant appointment tomorrow but the way it's moving around it doesn't feel engaged. I'm supposed to have a sweep Sunday so keen for tomorrow's appointment to see what they say. Did you go in day of csection or night before Hun?x

Hahaha yeah, I'm on here a bit in the wee small hours! I have to sit with my son on my chest for half an hour after a feed other wise he'll be throwing up every where! Helps me stay awake!

I actually got admitted to hospital about a week before my section due to my blood pressure. I was bookedfor an elective anyway so they just brought it forwards. So I was in hospital the night before, but usually they just ask you in that morning.

I used to write really late / early morning posts and when I fed LO I used to keep watching telly while he was fast asleep it was my own doing as to why I was so sleep deprived not having a newborn!

I'm in waiting room now to see what they say but just been told I now have keytones in water sample and low blood pressure but I think LO having a cold as is catching it hasnt helped plus the antenatal ward is a 10 mile hike through the hospital so that's affected my blood pressure I'm sure!

Thanks for the info xx

Csection booked for Monday and go in tomorrow for blood tests. There was the option of induction tomorrow but the doctor was more pro section under circumstances so unless I go into labour in the meantime roll on Monday!x

Very good luck sunbeam for today for section - yourll be up and hungry by now! Or on route to hosp for early starts - so exciting xx
