so im very nervous of having another miscarriage but trying to stay positve to the point i want to go shopping haha!! im haveing a early scan in 2 weeks at 6 weeks preg but i want to shop now haha!! when did everyoen else start buying bitS?

I didn't start buying bit for my first pregnancy till after 12 weeks and then it was just things like, wipes, bibs, nappies, white vests and sleep suits. I didn't get any of the big stuff till after our 20 week scan.

Hi, congratulations! It is very normal to want to start buying things right away. We are both superstitious and only started buying little pits after 17 weeks gender scan and the biggest things later on. I remember our parents didn't want us to buy ANYTHING until she was born lo! x

We started buying after 12 week scan. Got the cot, crib, play mat, breast pump and a few other bits. Having a gender scan today, I'm 16weeks, so will start looking at decorating the nursery after that. Like you, I have suffered a loss so I made myself wait until after the 12 week scan xx

I've brought a Doppler off Spock to collect the weekend and also a yummy mummy bag from Spock for 5 pound!! I brought a Moses basket last pregnancy the day before finding out I had a missed miscarriage!

Congratulations hope this is your rainbow baby!

I had a suspected ectopic in feb and when I found out I was pregnant again I found it hard to enjoy the first 12weeks even though I had several early scans. For this reason I didn't start buying items until around 15weeks when I brought things like nappies and wipes. I had a gender scan done at 16weeks and have since purchased pretty much everything only bits I need now are for myself like nursing bra's.

Im waiting till 16 weeks most likely...although did just by doppler. Cant wait to start buying bits....have registered with emmas diary so will collect my free packs full of freebies later today!

I bought things before I was pregnant. We were ttc for a long time with a couple of losses and I wanted something to enjoy doing and to try to believe that this could happen. I bought clothes, each failed cycle I would get just one item, in a random size, in a unisex style and often in the sales. I am of the opinion that you can't jinx things, they either work out or they don't. If things didn't work out I thought that donating the clothes to those in need would be a kind of closure. As it turned out I ended up with a lovely lot of clothes that spread the cost. It does depend on whether you can deal with the items being around if it doesn't happen though.

I've never bought anything before the 20 week anomaly scan any of the times as I like to know everything is ok with baby before spending money. I personally would have hated to have loads of stuff that wasn't then used, as I ould have found it too difficult, but it's a personal thing.

I started buying clothes for the baby once I started showing around 17 weeks. I had to buy clothes for myself for comfort from about 5 weeks lol. I've still not got loads. Was waiting until the 20 week scan had passed to buy crib & travel system but haven't settled on those yet at 22+4 lol

I haven't bought a single thing for this baby. I've just had my 20 week scan today.

I doubt I'll buy anything for a while yet either. I have lots of sorting to do in my house!

I'm 23 weeks tomorrow and so far have bought one pack of nappies. Now granted this is our 4th baby so we have lots already, but we had a previous loss at 20 weeks which makes me catious. Every one of us is hoping to take that healthy baby home at the end of our pregnancies, and buying things for baby really won't influence whether that happens or not. I guess what I'm saying is there is no 'safe' time to buy. But it's so important to prepare and plan for our new arrivals.

I think that is one reason why I felt ok to buy early, there is never a guaranteed time that all will be ok. My mum lost a healthy pregnancy at full term, you just have to enjoy each stage as much as possible.
