I had a 2nd degree tear on perenium and skin so had two lots of continuous stitches in my downstairs. I have been fine up until this morning, I feel quite bruised and am experiencing almost like a tugging sensation? I wouldn't say it stings when I wee but I do feel uncomfortable.

I know stitches dissolve but surely not 12 hous shy of a week postpartum?

I had an episiotomy and was very bruised and swollen where the cut was. I remember having the pulling sensation you're having as well, it's really uncomfortable. I was advised to have baths and take arnica (30c pillules). I was too sore to contemplate a bath (I was on tramadol at one point!) but did take the arnica and the swelling started to noticeably improve by about 2 weeks postpartum xx

I think it's where the skin starts knitting together and the stitches pull - I seem to remember something similar.

Ohh how lovely. It's beautiful really, this baby lark.

I had a 2nd degree tear and epi but i healed pretty fast. I was only sore prob first day after.

I just put witch hazelmon mat pads. And did 2 tcp baths a day. Was healed in 3 weeks, enough to dtd at 4 weeks pp LOL!

Youll be fine, hang on in there. Xxx

I remember this as well - it's a good sign as things are healing but it made me walk like john Wayne!

I had an episiotomy with my son! I still get pains nor from it. I'd expect you to have soreness and swelling down there for a good few weeks at least! My epi took '6-8' weeks to heel! I Showered 2/3 times a day and dried with hairdryer

Kumber I have a 2nd degree epsiotomy and I will swear by really cold witch hazel poured onto a thin pad placed on top of your maternity pad x

Thanks ladies :) I'm starting to feel less tender now thank goodness.

The arnica really does help sweets. I'm pretty sure that's what sped up the healing for me xx

I need to look into it, where would I even get some?

I think bunny got hers from boots (recommended it to her too). I got mine in a hamper from my brothers girlfriends mum, but I think she got it from holland & Barrett xx

Holland and barret do arnica - I used the oil in my bath aswell. Its awsome.

xxx

Thanks both, I'll go on a hunt this week :)

I bought mine in the pharmacy section of Sainsburys - the pillules come in a small purple tube. The hospital were specific about buying this type xx
