Breastfeeding baby with cold sores

Ella had been chewing her lips for a couple of days and I'd noticed white sores on the inside of them so took her to docs who said it was the coldsore virus and nothing to worry about, would clear by itself.

Well, now I have sores on both my nipples meaning its too painful to feed, and having now done some research myself, should have been advised to stop breastfeeding when they were noticed.

Completely pissed off, never had a coldsore myself so know nothing about avoiding them spreading etc, not.sure where Ellas got them from and now thanks to a useless doc, they're everywhere and I'm having to formula feed her.

Sorry, just needed to offload, please be aware ladies, they are rampant and spread like wildfire so first sign on you or lil one and avoid contact, wash regularly and thoroughly and definitely stop breaastfeeding until they're cleared up

Have you just stopped feeding completely or are you still expressing?

I'm expressing but its still sore, and some of what.I've read says if the milk touches the sores.you should dump it? Going away first thing tomorrow otherwise is go back to docs and ask for.more advise as online isn't always trustworthy, although docs aren't either obviously!

There's nothing on cold sores in there. I can't find anything on Kellymom either. Do you follow The Leaky B@@b on Facebook? Definitely worth putting something on there. Now is a good time too as the Australian and American mums will be up and on it.

Bloody doctors too! Hope you are OK and you get better quickly. Just remember to keep pumping, you don't want to end up with mastitis and blocked ducts. Thinking of you, must be a massive stress for you hun xxx
