iv wanted a breast reduction for about 3 years now. Im 34F and sick of having back problems and abuse because of them. Iv never had an operation of any kind before and im scared of having needles. Not only that but i dont like the idea of showing my boobs to a doctor. I know they see them all the time and its nothing but im embarest by them. they just dont feel like they should be there. Im at the age now where i can actually have this done and i know there are more + than -.

Has any one else had one?
What did they do and what was it like?

 Im scared and upset. Its a really big thing!

I haven't had it done but my friend had it done privately. Her breasts unfortunately had grown again up 2 sizes, and so did her sisters. There is always the risk of them getting bigger again apparently. She was a 32FF, went down to a C, ended up being a full C/D (they can't get it totally accurate) and is back up to a DD/E.

I know you can have it done on the NHS if they cause you alot of back problems and your nipples are down to the inside of your elbow I think. That's what my second cousin was told before she could have hers done on the NHS.

Hope that helps a bit xxx

Reading your post back again, are you booked in for the operation or looking into it?

never had this done but im guessing if you might have this your putting your TTCing on hold?

i was thinking of having it done after having kids. I want to have a long think about all the + and -'s before doing something as life changing as this. Plus after breast reductions you cant breast feed which is something i want to do. I know its not going to be for a long time but i was just wondering what other peoples experiances were.

My friend hasn't had kids and was upset at not being able to do it, especially as they have grown back again.

I would do it after having kids hun as your breasts can change so much through pregnancy and childbirth. I'm sorry they cause so much heartache, I can relate, but only with the fact mine are so small and awful now I've had Damien, they get me so so down.

xxxx

When i was fitted at selfridges they fitted me as a 38H
But from M&S i can get into a 40G....

I have asked about it, and have been on the waiting list for 3 years.. never heard a thing since!

I'm the same i won't have it done till i've had kids cos i want to be able to booby feed.

And the thought of it actually upsets me too, my own fault for watching too much "extreme makeover" and them programmes about plastic surgery going wrong!!

I just want to get down to a D or something!!!

Am hoping when the weight starts really going that they'll go down a bit!!

yeah, watching other people have boob sergery has made me upset about it, there so rough with people. I dont like the idea of all that going on when im out of it.

I know some one who had a breast enlargement through the NHS within a few months of waiting because she said it was making her depressed. It's so stupid, knowing some one is getting an enlargement (which isnt neccessary) before some one gets a reduction makes me want to kill some one!! It just doesnt seem fair. I was told it would be about a 3/4 year wait when i was 14 but they said it was also because they had to wait until they had stopped growing.

look my boobs are awful:

Hun I would seriously think about it before you have it done, there are loads of risks with having it done. My sister was referred to have it done and decided against it at the last minute because it sounded awful! She was told that they would have to cut her nipples off and reattach them and that they might not reattach at all. She thought it would be far worse to have no nipples than to have big boobs so never went through with it. I'm a 36G so I know how you feel but you really shouldn't let them get you down. Whoever makes comments are jealous!

it's not just the abuse. I walk funny because my back has bent because i cant stand up straight. I'v tried laying on my back to try and "strighten it out" but it doesnt work. I know that the operation itself doesnt sound very nice but its worth looking into. TBH i dont have a clue about what people go throug when they have it done. Iv seen a few people on tv but they always talk poop anyway. They would never show a boob reduction go wrong on tv

They are not awful babes, honestly, you are so pretty too.
It's hard because no matter what I say it isn't going to make you feel any better about them, I know that myself. Is is unfair that girl got an elargement before you get a reduction. Do minimiser bra's help at all? Not very helpful when you are a young girl and you wanna feel attractive.

aww hun

ive got no boobies, ive always said ive got a size 18 body but size 6 boobs im only 36b and all depending sometimes a 38a

my friend has big boobs and she HATES them. She says that no matter what she gets tops always look awful on her. She walks with a stoop too and get back ache. I feel for her i really do.
She would have a reduction but shes scared of the side effects etc.

My brother in law is a plastic surgeoun and does lots of breast surgeries and he says the risks are minimal though and the benefits of such an op far out weigh the risks.

Goto your doc and see what he says Jenna.

the one i saw they cut her nipples off and scraped the insides out with a spoon-like thing and then sewed them back on and it was awful they were so rough and EEEK! it's hard to believe that you can live though some thing like that. :puke:

Jenna my friend was so chuffed with hers!!

if you have to have the nipples removed completely and sewn on thne breastfeeding is less likely to be successful.
